I placed my order for an LCI LBB M2 at the end of June ... during the purchase process, the dealer was adamant that I could purchase Apple Car play at any time, and that it did not need to be ordered with the car ... so I'm guessing that he was referring to this process (i.e. purchasing via the Connect Drive Store)...?

I'm based in Australia, but I take it that Connected Drive doesn't care about location..?

Same here, except I used it maybe less than an hour and never went back. Worst $750 CAD I've ever spent...

Interested to understand all the hate towards CarPlay. It's the best A$600 I've spent. Works flawlessly and love the Spotify integration.

Would like ability to send Calendar locations to the car easier though.

All the hate is because idrive does everything better and its free.

The only thing Carplay does better is the audio quality is better than bluetooth, about on part with lightning cable connection (as it's using wifi to transfer audio which has a much higher throughput than bluetooth) and accessing deeper menus of apple music, which idrive cannot access yet.

Other than that, the nav, interaction with ui elements etc is more fluid and better in iDrive. This is on non touchscreen systems where you can only navigate carplay with rotating the controller dial and the back button.

I mean I can look at the paperwork from BMW maybe it's on there but if not, then I wouldn't know. Not sure if I got all of the new stuff or just some new stuff. I don't know how that stuff works.

Carplay runs largely off your iPhone as a secondary view. If you're not happy with CarPlay in your M2 chances are you wouldn't be happy with CarPlay in a Rolls Royce Ghost.

With that being said one way car manufacturers manage to mess up CarPlay is by not having a easy way to return to the OEM media/music/radio device from CarPlay.

Apple doesn't support third party navigation apps on CarPlay, nothing Google can do.

On the iPhone make sure both BT and WiFi are on.

Just in case don't plug the phone into any USB sockets

Connect phone to CarPlay.

Must have tried a dozen times to connect CarPlay and it won?t work. The system locates my vehicle, I receive the pairing code and the CarPlay home screen icons show up on my phone. The idrive tells me to pay attention to the CarPlay device then says it can?t connect. What gives?

I got talked into it for future resale value, only 300 over the length of the loan but since then I have read on here that it sucks balls...... so prolly will just ignore it

I had a lot of issues with my '14 M235i and the iPhone 5S when no one else had issues, bMW could never figure it out and it fixed its self after a year. The M4 was flawless.....

Just got a 2018 430i but don?t have the option to add carplay in the US Connected drive Store.

How can I add carplay? The vehicle has premium package with navigation and idrive 6.0.

I was under the impression I could add it after through the online store. Did I screw up when ordering?

430 != M2 (or 2series in general). Systems may be different. Might want to ask over in the 4er forum?

Same here. Mine is a US car but it's currently in Europe so I was thinking it was like Sirius satellite radio, it's there but you can't used it in Europe. From what little research I've done (quick google search) it seems carplay is available in Europe but I've not put a much time into figuring it out.
