I think hes saying that because youre not supposed to surpass 5k rpms prior to 1200 mile run in service, he cant feel the torque, which I think is BS since peak torque comes on thousands of rpms below that level.
Exactly.

I THINK what he's thinking.. is the car doesn't have full power till break-in service done.

I'm guessing here.

But... that has never once been true.

Isn't the torque like 160 lb-ft at 1500 rpm?
Thought it hits max torque near 2500-3000 rpm

What have you been driving prior to the M2?
Believe it or not it's a 128i with a 3 stage intake, high flow header, and an Evolve tune... plus M3 suspension upgrade... that's a super fun daily

I think it felt better in sport + mode but I still expected way more in the 2000-3000 rpm range... I haven't had much chance to drive the car because we seem to be in a perpetual winter this year

My car is only half run in and I have plenty of torque. Then again I am a bit of a lead foot! This is not a light car but it moves...

At 2000rpm it should be hitting max torque so I don't think my turbo is working.. I'll check for error codes... pretty sure if turbo wasn't working that I would be getting some sort of an error code or CEL

No, it's exactly as I stated - 369 lb-ft @ 1450 rpm ("overboost" - or 343 lb-ft @ 1400 rpm otherwise). These stats are everywhere...

STEP ON THE GAS! At low throttle position, the boost is just dumped. Drive it like the M that it is and you will feel it. Leave it in comfort mode and baby it and enjoy your corolla otherwise. lol

In our cars, I believe it is ~7 seconds of additional boost which delivers ~369 ft lbs of torque when the throttle is pegged and certain other conditions are met.

I suspect it's all in your head. The engine makes torque like a big block V8. Take a Spin in an S2000 for comparison.

I usually drive mine in Sport+. If you're telling me you don't feel the torque, you're either used to driving cars with 500+ hp or you're trolling.

I wish I was trolling. I've only driven the car once and first it was in comfort mode. And as I said sport + did improve it and even more so when I rolled down the windows to get rid of the droning from ASD... that drone simply makes you think the engine is working way too hard for the power you're getting... maybe I was too easy on the gas pedal because it was the first drive and I was babying it... all I can say objectively, is that at 3000 rpm the torque display was at 200... now if this is not a real torque display then it's useless but if it is, then the torque should be much higher than 200 at that rpm.... I'm staying optimistic that it's just me and not the car and I'm looking forward to a real test drive when this effin weather warms up

Ignore all this rhetoric. Let the car break in and do your 1200 mile service.
Once that is done, you can do WOT and the car will be a beast.

The torque and hp aren’t very high at constant speed. Hit the throttle and watch both numbers go up.

The current M2 is not a torque monster (yet), so don't expect it to push you back in your seat; for that, look to a GTR or a tune 335i/135i N54. I driven in cars of such and you actually feel your inside churning, as you brace yourself for sweet death.. I am not trolling but the current M2 is just a notch above the 235i, with a 335i turbo, no matter how many people might try to flame me for this fact.
