Best part of it is the delivery at the Welt, the tour of the museum and the factory (which is REALLY cool), and then the opportunity to see Europe! We went from Munich, to Prague, to Salzburg, to Dinklesbuhl, to Munich on our last trip.

Next time, we'll do Swizerland and Italy!

Did you order a new car ED? I'm debating upgrading my M2 to a M2Competition but still on the fence. Getting an ED allocation wouldn't hurt.

Huh, they manufactured completely new M2 Competition door sills? That argument makes no sense.

Hasn't grown on me yet. That thing is hideous. What were they thinking?

If they did continue the stripes as you suggest then "competition" would need to be compressed and would look silly.

I was thinking that the "competition" would just become smaller to keep the aspect ratio. However, thinking about it again, i don't think it would look good to have the stripes come all the way down. I think i would have been happiest with M2C on the badge and door sills.

I don't plan on selling it anytime soon. Don't worry something will come along and kill the Comps resale value. If that's the reason you buy cars you have a lot to learn.

I've debadged my cars for the last 20 years, Euro style, so it doesn't matter!

But it does look pretty as is... Might be the first one I leave alone

Current M2’s resale value will only be directly affected by the new M2 in a positive light. Only a 3 yr run in a very controlled amount with nothing but praises from media and consumers.
You, trying to buy and low ball my car: So I think your car is not the M2 comp?!?! Me: No Sir!!! That would be the one with the huge mustache up front and the huge hemorrhoid under the rear.

Kidding aside. BMW cars are known for being well designed, well balanced that you can use everyday regardless of what engine and what internal component it has. M variants are exaggerations of that idea while continuing the overall balance. It is BMW’s core. If it sounds good it’s a big bonus. This is why I love the E36, E46, E90/92 M variants and why I got turned off with F80/82. I reallly wanted to like the new M3/M4. It looks great externally but ones I drove it I kept on looking for that M feeling. But all I got is an overwhelming brute power from the get go overshadowing the rest with a fart can sound in the rear. If this was what I wanted, sorry but the AMG line already owns that field with an awesome engine and exhaust note to come with. So comes the M2 and it looked great to me and I look underneath the shell and under the hood and I saw that it was a real M car. I test drove it and that M feeling came back. And the sound oh what music to my ears and a bonus burble too from the stock exhaust. My grin was from ear to ear again. So, I bought it with a commitment. It’s now been more than a year and damn I must say I still can’t believe how good it feels to drive my M2. And I know if I ever decide to get ride of this 5 or more years from now. The next M affectionado wanting my car will also appreciate what this car is all about. BTW a young man ask me just yesterday. Is that your M2? I like your car sir. And I just said, Yes it is and I exactly know what you are talking about as I like her as well. He walks away smiling. I wonder what car will he want later in life it he does his homework well.
I hope the M2 comp will be wonderful because it’s good for BMW fans and BMW. But this remains to be seen. And if it’s good, all I can say is that car would not have realize if not for the current M2s.

It looks to me like you don't understand what worry is. It's OK, it's not important. This is a car forum, no need to get in to psychology 101 here.

You either don't have kids, or you don't care as much as I do about keeping a new car as close to new. Everyone is different. But again, neither is wrong as you called it, and it certainly has nothing to with parenting. You can tell a kid to pick up after themselves a thousand times, and they still won't (always) do it.
I'm not going to argue with you about who is more fastidious. I think my point has been proven that I am because I don't allow children to make a mess in my vehicles.

My ex wife however .. did. Makeup .. ice cream... soda spills .. melted crayons they all happened in HER CAR. Not mine.

I said what I said because I am a parent. , i picked up a car that was 1 of 740 ( read - will always be more rare than an M2C), was never intended as a daily driver and seven years later currently is still in my garage as a garage queen. After 741 miles of driving in Europe there were no scrapes, nicks, scratches, dings , dents or spills and my daughter went with me and my ex on my Euro delivery trip.

I had hoped that by sharing my experience as a similarly obsessive car owner with an extremely rare bmw would encourage you to have one of the best automobile purchases of your life as well.

My daughter is 21 currently and is a college junior, she was around 13 at the time.

By the way you make it sound that parenting is an impossible task, i am sure your kids perhaps are currently younger than she was at the time.

If your kids make messes in your cars that's on you as parent(s) for allowing them to have items that they can't control.

I will agree with you.... based on your current parenting experiences , it does appear that you probably shouldn't attempt ED with your children ...

Well, shipping to the US isn't free - you're still paying the $995 destination - you just get to enjoy the car in its home environment before it comes to America.

Shipping is free. Registration in Europe for 2 weeks is free. Insurance for 2 weeks in Europe is free. There is no destination charge. There is some kind of charge that is about $450., so it is about half of the destination charge.

My apologies - I thought the $995 destination applied to all US-bound cars, didn't realize there was this differentiation.

Destination charge was $925 for my ED in 2014, which was the same amount they charged for US delivered cars back then, and it is $995 for my ED in June according to my build sheet (that shows ED MSRP and invoice prices).

There were no other charges for the ED in 2014, so I am not sure if anything changed (other than the ED discount is now lower at 5%)?

AlpsRider, have you done one recently? Any more info on that extra charge?

I stand corrected, I just checked my documents from my Aug 2015 ED. It looks like I did have to pay destination fee. I was thinking of another fee that is $475. that I'll likely have to pay on a new ED. Apologies to dmboone25.

Everyone pays the destination fee, but there are no added shipping costs.

Look to other dealers.

Just my 2 cents.

I should've clarified, they'll do an ED but without a discount, BMW PDX is telling me the same thing. This is just for the M2 Comp. Kuni never charges more than MSRP and I still get my USAA perk so that's a good thing.
