I doubt it'll get the motion gestures (since the X5 and X6 aren't getting it) and I don't know about the touchscreen. But I've played around with the one in the 7er and that is one very fast system.

I really don't care that much about the nav side of things, but wireless phone charging would be a big bonus for me.

The issue I have with wireless charging is the slow charge rate. When I am in the car, often I want a quick boost to charge as much as possible before I reach my destination. I am used to 2.5+ amp charges, isn't wireless like .5a?

I really have not looked to be completely honest. But it was more for long road trips, that would be really nice.

But like I said, the new iDrive is one speedy SOB.

I got 9300 out of my original rears on the 235. The rears on the 981 seem to be holding up better, but I am just closing in on 7K miles...

Pay to play baby...

It's probably because of people like me why they changing from 50k to 36k! I go through about 2 to 3 sets of brake pads per year. 1 set would last me 2 track days and some street driving. Tyres last less than a year about 12,000 miles even less if I do auto cross which I don't do any more. Can't be bothered with a full day event and only like 6mins of drive time. Track day is the way to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a 2017 M2 will still come with the 4 year/50,000 mile basic and powertrain warranties.

The difference will be the extra year/14k miles of no cost scheduled maintenance. Big difference between warranty and maintenance.

As other have pointed out the notable change is the free brake pads/rotors. Even if you could wear them out in 3 year/36k miles on a 2017 they won't give them to you.

Correct, the change is just the maintenance but you can purchase MPU which is an add on to extend maintenance. I am interested to find out if there will be a package to add brakes. Due to track I go through about 2 brake changes per year.

Until now, every new BMW included maintenance for 4 years or 50,000 miles. Yesterday I was reading an article in which BMW announced changes to its No Cost Schedule Maintenance program. They have mentioned that beginning with year 2017, all new BMW vehicles will come with 3-year, 36,000 mile, No Cost Scheduled Maintenance. As it is with the current program this coverage is non-transferable. Furthermore, the new program will no longer includes brake pads, brake rotors, wiper blades and engine belts

+1 for carplay. I was disappointed that the M2 didn't have it, but it looks like I'm in the boat for a MY17 so maybe by some divine intervention BMW will stick it in next year's model.

I was wondering about this. For some reason, the extended maintenance isn't available when you build the M2 on BMW's website.

CarPlay and Android Auto won't be around for at least another year. And while technically possible to include it in MY17, they most likely won't. BMW doesn't tend to add big new features in their software upgrades and want compelling features to sell their new cars.

yeah car play or some type of integration is needed. What is BMW thinking? You can load directions faster on your phone, your phone does voice recognition better. Your phone is a better median period.

I would like if i put directions in google maps to show up on the screen. I don't even use the navi now, i just use it a reference map. What a waste.

I think it's great that BMW will pay for maintenance required due to track use, and even track event use.
Careful here. When I had my 1 I replaced my pads once with relatively low miles under warranty. When I went back for another set 30-60 days later (with a few track days in between) they said they couldn't replace again as they wouldn't get reimbursed. This is from a service department that I've know for years has done a lot of no cost work for me. They've coded and installed an LSD for me. A couple of the SAs attend the track events too. I trust them on this one.

My response was meant to address the question of BMW providing MY16 software upgrades to support Carplay.

There isn't really one. The car will tell you when and what needs servicing. It will also notify your preferred dealership.

Sooooo even if you're modified and don't ever plan on going to the dealership (after break in)? Since modded you'd want to do services sooner.

I know the oil changes are condition based, how accurate is that?

It'd be nice to have a schedule just to know.

Even if modded why waste money when maintenance is included? You can do your own service but no way of getting your own customised reminders.

Are you tracking your car? I track but still follow the cars maintenance schedule.

Don't want to be flagged, if they do that.
