Putting these in the OG.

So doing passenger seat first cuz well if you run into issues you can still drive.

Using the Bret Krause brackets. Thinking this will be easy I’ve done this in other cars. Their directions are good. Ok go.

Well they said the nut would be on the outside of the rail on the one side and the front was but not the back. Man what a lesson in patience. Thank god for many years of wrenching removing things in tight places. A nice thin wrench set would go well here.

After about 30min of micro turns it’s out.

More to come.

Taking a short break. Took a min to figure out how the brackets bolt to seat rail. Or inside or outside. I’ll take some picks. Looks like one side inside one side outside as dictated by the factory slotted bolts.

No power yet testing to get the seat mount figured out. My wife and I will both be driving. Right now middle front I’m home and rear too.

Even at the higher setting it already feels lower than stock. Which is good cuz I feel like a truck driver in the OG vs my G87. lol.

Yeah, a set of low profile wrenches (like these) really helps getting these apart. Also having an external PSU to hook up to the seat after you take it out to move it into position where you can access the fasteners is a big help too.

100% I miss my snap on tools. I thought about using one of my computer PSUs. Bit tbh moving the seat wouldn’t help for that one nut. I plugged it in and move it to check.

Power Hooked up.

This is all the way forward.

Rear seat delete is going in next.

Roll bar and harnesses a bit further down the road

Stock seat belts fit nicely and are comfortable.

Drivers seat next.

Driver side is on hold. Cracked the cross beam on the seat track trying to get out the last bolt. Ugh.

that is actually more space to the back seat that I thought, you think is enough space to get wheels through to the back seat?

These make for a very nice setup. Only complaint I have with them is if you track they can very easily put the driver too high to where the helmet interacts with the roof. We started building our own base and using manual sliders for that reason. For non track use (or if you can make the BK setup play nice with a helmet on) these are phenomenal.

The PSU also needs to deliver 10A (which a computer PSU should do fine on the 12V rail). I tried with a 3A PSU and could only get the motors to move if there was no resistance (seat base could only move up if I had the seat on its side where the weight of the seat wasn't against the movement).

Always never enough time to prep for track day. Road Atlanta and AMP in 2 weeks.

Gotta test fit new wheels and tires, get an alignment

Rear seat delete kit

Bimmerworld fuel starvation fix kit.

Downpipe.

Anyone wanna help wrench 🤣

Alright after hunting down a replacement and looking at a lot of pics. I realized I'm a bit boneheaded.

I was following the brey krause instructions but something is missing.

Before removing your seat RAISE IT UP

Here's a pic from the seat assembly on ebay and you can see the rear is raised.
Name: s-l1600.jpg
Views: 180
Size: 173.2 KB

I didn't think about doing that until I saw these pics. With the rear all the way down it makes access to one of the nuts extremely difficult.

Quick measurement. Probably can’t do wheels. The distance between the shoulder and the pillar is about 8.5”. There is more room lower but I’d say no.

Couple more things.

Get ProTools and an android device if you don’t have one. I use my BM3 WiFi adapter with it.

Takes 5 min to program out the airbags and position sensors. As an added benefit it is easy to do the CS/GTS steering and diff.

Under the passenger seat. I harvested what I needed from the stock harness.

Going back to stock not happening though. If you want to make it reversible you probably would have to leave a mess of wiring underneath.

thats awesome, good to know that its easy at home to program the airbag warning off.

Also bummer about not being able to get wheels back there that way.

Great setup. I used the same seats and mounts in my M2c. I also have the rear seat delete with a roll bar and 6-point harnesses. I really appreciate being able to keep my shoulder harnesses for street use and it's a quick switch to harnesses for the track. You should love this combination.

Don't want to go with Schroth Quick Fits? You don't need a bar for those.

I've considered it, but my understanding is they aren't certified for the F-series cars.

BK also has a harness bar, probably not much different as far as effectiveness.
