Checked with my SA earlier this week, no additional details at the moment, bummer. I put down a deposit ($1k) on a 2019 M2 back in March. I think I'm number 5 or 6 on their M2 list. They don't differentiate between M2 and M2C, so likely some of the people in front of me will be getting an N55 M2.

Regarding the $2,000 fleet incentive, it’s set to expire May 31 on the M2. It would be very unlike BMW (or any manufacturer) to give such a large discount on a new model like the M2C, so if BMW follows the same pattern as last year, the fleet incentive will go away until winter when the market slows down. The only exception will be if dealers have trouble moving their remaining M2s; then BMW might set up a new program for leftover M2s only. However, this doesn't seem to be a problem now; some dealers are already sold out.

My dealer didn't even ask for a deposit to get me #2 on his list. I don't understand the point of a deposit just to get on the list anyway. Ordering, yes, but just getting on the list? it's not like they are ordering more cars that they will be stuck with just because they have a list. Deposit with an order? Yes, that makes sense. Deposit to get in line? Ridiculous.

I'm a little confused. How do some dealers have information, and others don't? I'm number 1 at a local dealer here in southern California, and they told me today they don't have any information yet.

None of the U.S. dealers have the order guide, pricing or allocations. They cannot place an order, because there’s nothing in the system. The good dealers won’t even take a deposit; in fact, in some areas it’s illegal to take a deposit on “air.”
The best you can do now is get on a list. That’s it. Of course, this may change momentarily; the date I’ve heard for pricing and information is May 20 - but that’s not necessarily the official date for the release of M2C allocations. This pretty much parallels the scenario a year ago with the LCI - let the leaks make everyone crazy for a week or so and then let reality happen. And then wait another couple of months before production begins. YMMV. |

Some managers keep their sales people in the loop on ALL items.. Other sales managers keep their sales people in the DARK and tell them to " sell what's in stock" ... So... while your CA probably does indeed know nothing... I am sure that SOMEONE at the dealer knows just as much as the other dealers because any communications would go to all at the same time of course. Also... ///Mbargo happens.... Some dealers are better about waiting for that //Mbargo date before they speak to customers than others.. |
