Out the door is out the door. I guess that's how I think out west. So that includes addons/obvious options/freight which is non-trivial etc. $90K out the door to me reads like $10K higher than probably what the base price is. If I'm MSRP'ing at $65,000 and taking it home at $75,000 then I'd say M2 Competition could easily be $75,000 and out the door at $90,000 after taxes and options. CCB alone will probably be $6K+. If this is what his dealer told him I think that's 100% reasonable if their dealer options the cars out. Some dealers even force options (i.e., MPE on early M2s) I am saying $90K all in totally reasonable. Hell I even agree with you that it makes no sense to buy at that price but it wouldn't be the first time a high-end M made you second guess not jumping for a P car. A loaded M4 has me thinking the exact same thing.

I think some people have different understanding of *out the door* means. Lol.
Most take it to mean the total final price paid including all freight, PDI and taxes. That invoice just shows the msrp - 1324....theres no mention of all the other fees plus taxes |

But to say someone paid exactly $0 worth of freight/PDI/admin/AC/tire/etc is a little crazy. Because to come at it from that perspective is to then, as I said, to effectively receive a $10K+ discount on a brand new M2 which is completely unheard of. With that sort of discount I imagine the dealer wouldn't be too pleased about the spreading of that information.

LOL, easily 65K - will people pay up though? In the US that's M3/M4 territory. Maybe BMW will increase the base price of the M3 by a few thousand to justify m2 comp starting price.

Why would they want to keep offering the M2 as a great bang-for-the-buck car, when the popularity has been so unexpectedly high? Supply and demand. Or more precisely: Demand and Price... Ironically, if they had listened to 1er and 1M enthusiasts in the first place, they shouldn't have been at all surprised by the M2's popularity, and they could have planned production to keep up with demand. But BMW tends to think that everyone wants a bland, numb, oversized "sports sedan", so they were caught flat-footed when the M2 took off.

Who knows when that will make it's way into an M2. Might be a gap between EOP M2 S55 and whatever they do next. Also it's possible no MT option for that car, we won't know until then.

Wait until the electric powered M2 arrives. BMW would be silly not to engineer an S58 powered M2, I am sure they are aware of the N55 M2 success.

So the M2 Competition is not a 'baby M4' but rather a 'youngster M4' or 'younger brother'.
