Sunroof

So what are everyone's plans with the sunroof keep it or delete it?

I wonder if it will be standard equipment like on the M235i. I'm really on the fence on what to do about it.

I like a sun/moonroof and the "extra weight" doesn't matter to me. Plus I need something to brighten up that black M2 interior.

No. 1M was my first without a sunroof. There's something about a reflective unbroken roofline/panel

If it costs extra, no. If it is a no cost option, certainly.

Undecided; in theory, I'd love a sunroof. The reality is I hardly ever use it in my E90. I supposed a sunroof delete would save a bit of weight and give me a bit more room with a helmet on.

This is a tough choice. If it's a free option I would have a hard time not getting it. Yes there is weight savings in a key location, but the difference in performance is probably negligible.

A sunroof is the only option I wished I added when I built my 235i. It's my only regret. If I do get the M2 (still waiting on official pricing) I'll prob not and regret it again. I just don't like the idea of a cut open roof.

I love the sunroof i think this depends hugely on where you live tbh, For example i live in Sweden and we have approximately 100 days if not more of complete darkness here where i live, The sun goes up as we speak at around 08:20 then it sets at around 17:00 so getting the maximum light in to our cars and homes are a must other wise it gets kinda depressing.

So when summer hits we usually have very unstable summers with mixed weather a lot of rain and cloudy days. But those days when its sunny and nice outside you just open the sunroof and roll down the windows and enjoy the fresh air.

But if i was living in California or some other place where the sun almost always shines. I am basing this on my 4 weeks say in the US and it din't rain not even once. So the sun might not be as appreciated as here in Sweden.

So a sunroof is a good thing for me at least

I'd definitely keep the sunroof. I have mine open whenever i drive the car and only close it when it's raining, also love the extra light it lets into the cabin.

I don't really care much for having a sun roof, not when it's just a small'ish rectangular hole cut into the roof. I think it breaks the lines of the car both inside and out. Having said that, on cars where the glass roof is effectively full width and becomes an integral part of the design, then yeah, I'd maybe consider.

I like the idea of a sunroof, but I so rarely use the one on my 135i and rarely used the sunroof on my E46. The last time I used a sunroof regularly was with my E36 M3 almost 10 years ago now. I think I'd only spring for it if it were a no-cost option, but maybe not even then.

I like moon roofs...if they are well made. I have owned cars where all they did was rattle and make allot of noise. The moon roofs on the 2ers are solid and no rattles. They work very well and it doesn't sound like a helicopter taking off when you open them.

No sunroof or moonroof as it reduces headroom which I need with a helmet.

Dear god I can't imagine a more useless waste of money/weight/headroom/rigidity than a sunroof

Maybe if I had hair...

Agree. If the moonroof is available, I'll snap-order it without a second thought.
I have not owned a car without a sunroof or convertible roof in decades.
If I had a choice of either CF roof or moonroof, I'd need to think about it.

Seems like moonroofs are OK for track days, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyone?

It's a 3500+ lb. car. Saving 25 or 30 lb. here or there makes no difference.
Unless, of course, it's unsprung weight that you're saving. That would be huge.
