That is also what I am hoping for,to actually get some official info from BMW regarding the M2.Maybe there will be some info when they show the 3 series LCI to the press tomorrow. It would be great to get some actual specs from BMW instead of info on the forum that might be true.

That's why there's no substitute, haha.
I'd be a happy man driving a 991 GT3 RS, hell even a 997.2 GT3 RS.

In my opinion, considering the m235i's whole package, I wouldn't say that power is its limiting factor, performance wise. With the factory claimed 322bhp it already easily breaks traction on lower gears, which makes it struggle to get a good launch on drag races as well as to accelerate out of slower corners. Not to mention, the springs and dampers are too soft, meaning that the body control is more focused on regular driving than actual spirited driving.
Considering that the M2 will be lighter, will have a better suspension (firmer and tighter) setup, wider tyres and a proper LSD, that alone would make it reasonably quicker than the m235i on both track and drag strip. Add in those 40hp and the performance difference will be substantial. |

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1119669 So, 32kw(42hp) difference. Why would anyone be upset about it? The difference between E82 135i and 1M was 25kw(34hp). The difference between E82 135is and 1M was even smaller at just 15hp. |

To all you M235i owners. Love your car, I truly do. If BMW didn't do an M2, there's a good chance that that would have been my car BUT:
For the love of god, please stop comparing your car to the M2. If it's good enough for you, that's great that you saved money and are satisfied. But your car is NOT an M2. 135i: 300 hp, 300 ft-lbs 1M: 340 hp, 332 ft-lbs, 77 lbs lighter than a regular 1 series Those specs look like nothing, but I dare anyone to tell me that the 135i is anywhere on the same planet as a 1M. The same exact story with the M2, watch.

I'll wait for the official reveal but if I don't like what I hear, M3/4 here I come.
By the way, I drove by a SSII M4 this afternoon and suddenly I'm a huge fan! |

That is exactly what BMW did with the 1M.The car was only available in three colors and it had one production year. |

Meh.. Not excited about the numbers. But They're good enough for fun times. Even more fun if they trim the weight enough. I am sure the driving dynamics will be worth it over a 235i. I could live with the numbers. I would have liked at least a little more TQ in an ideal world.. The real deciding factor will be how much they charge for these numbers. (Yes I am aware there is much more to it than HP/TQ) I am sure there are plenty willing to pay whatever they feel like charging... but as I have other options, the price for what is being offered will be a consideration.
As for the colors however... Looks like I will have to wait and see if they release more options later. I'd like a Red or a Green. As much as I like white & Black... I am just kind of tired of seeing black/white. And... as beautiful as a clean black car may be.. a clean black car rarely exists for more than a moment. Do not like the blue they are offering in the slightest, and grey has rarely ever excited me. Very happy to hear some sort of update/news finally though! I will be waiting for more. Particularly interested in how many production years this could potentially see? I am certain at this point, that I wouldn't be in on the 1st year. But I'd like to know how much time they'd be available. |

What a joke. It seems that BMW wanted this car to flop, to entice people to just spend the extra $15k-$20k and get the M3/4. Atleast I won't have to fight for a slot now, since none of these colors are too salivating.
