Also, the fact that what I'm going to pay for the F80 would be under $10k difference than the M2 costs was also important.

Do all M3/4 come with Contis? If not, can you request the PSS?

Either way, I personally plan on ditching the Contis after a couple of thousand miles and going with some more aggressive and wider tires. The M3/4 needs it.

Thanks so much. I just was at my dealer: I changed from DCT to 6MT. May '16 production date. Still driving/sliding my good old 1M. Cheers Robin |

As I said it before, your driving capabilities are just to be good for the DCT, the lack of control and driving involvement, the character of gear change, would have hurt certainly your driving fun! But what ever you would have chosen, I always respected your choice ! |

BTW, I'd pay more if they were an option. It should have at least been that.

Better late than never.
However, Attuale doesn't seem to see the obvious consensus of what this car does and doesn't have, so it's always nice to have a refresher.

I have an M3 and I test drove the m235i while I was shopping around. no doubt that the m235i felt much smaller and more flickable. that's fun around town and for autox, but probably becomes more of a handful on the track due to shorter wheelbase, kinda like I've heard said about the 1M coupe.
I appreciate the extra space in my M3 for my carseats, etc and I can still track the thing. the M2 is much more aggressive than the m235i which I like, but found it on the "cute little car" side (as I'm sure the M5 guys see the M3). interior detail is kind of a big selling point for the M3 also... not sure why they had to keep it so standard-2er... should be fun to see the comparos.

As a matter of fact, when I drove the M235i back to back with an F80 at the PC, I thought the F80 was far more on edge than the regular 2er. Also, because of it's smaller size, it just felt like the "friendlier" car to me. I have no doubt the M2 would be the same. P.S. Now that the M2 reviews are starting to pour out, I'm anxiously waiting for more M3/4 CP reviews.

I think there are people who just want a smaller cars and will love the m2 for that. unfortunately there is no perfect car and I think a lot of the decision between these two will come down to preference, which is great. if I were looking for a small 2+2, the M2 would definitely be on my short list, but having owned non-M cars, I do wish the interior didn't remind me so much of those cars. not a huge deal, but definitely a factor to me. I still would like to drive one and see first hand what it's like... I bet it's really going to be a blast to drive.

I'm just glad BMW is offered 6MT still for both of them. It's getting harder and harder to find cars with a manual, which for me is a prerequisite. Both great cars though IMO

It's not an M235i, it's an M2. A real M car, and if you look at what the car is made up of, that's not even a topic that can be debated. Not to even mention that a vast majority of car media outlets have said that they prefer the M2 over it's larger brothers. The M2 is a MAJOR win for BMW M.
