Joined the M2 crew
I've been driving a 2016 M235i for the last couple of years and loved it, but I got on the list for a M2C shortly after they were announced. Then after a few days, I realized I wouldn't be patient enough wait almost a year for my allocation, so I started looking for a M2 now.
Despite hearing to the contrary on the forums, the dealers I spoke with didn't seem to want to budge much off MSRP on the remaining 2018s. So I ended up finding a 'used' 2017 with only 799 miles on it. It still had all the protective plastic on the interior and is effectively brand new. After a test drive and PPI, papers were signed and I drove it home. I'm still on the list for the M2C, but I'm so glad I decided to get a M2 now and not to wait. It's like a completely different car than the M235i. |

Yup my 18 M2 has that wow factor which was missing from my 14 M235i which I tracked and thought was already a great upgrade to my 04 330ci - a very solid quick dependable coupe.

I agree also. I went from a 2014 M235i to my 2018 M2. Quite an upgrade and I am very happy with my decision.

Thanks everyone. This is my 7th BMW and 1st M car, and I completely love it.
There were two main things that disappointed me about the M235i: body roll and traction. The M2 is night and day better in both regards. I underestimated how much of a difference the LSD would make in daily driving, and the car feels completely planted in areas that used to make the 235 feel a bit unsettled. I also expected the M2 suspension to beat me up a bit more, but it's not bad at all. Getting tint installed on Thursday (going with LLumar Stratos and Air 80) and then maybe some of the carbon M Performance accessories. I've got a JB4 laying around from the M235i that I'm debating putting on, but I've heard mixed results with it on the M2. If anyone has recommendations in that regard, I'm all ears. |

Congrats, I also came from a 16 M235i, with a 17 Focus RS sandwiched in between. I agree about the M2 feeling more planted than the M235i, it even feels more planted than the RS which surprised me. I guess the wider track and tires really help.

Congrats on your pick up buddy! I have to agree with you MT or DCT the M2 is such a treat to drive.
Lol! I gave my sister my my 2013 R8V10 Spyder after taking delivery of then M2 just because it was more fun and engaging to drive. Some snippets of my two girls at my detailing shop that's also my part time garage when it's full at home.

Wow, I have three siblings and none of them have given me an R8. They need to step up their game.
My heart wanted a manual, but my left knee needed the DCT. My last manual was a 2013 335i and I loved it (didn't have rev matching) but after an hour or so around town it would hurt too much. |

BOBERT.... hope your keen feels much better mate. You're not missing much with rev matching to be honest. Overrated! I'll admit though, you'll probably miss the feel of a stick shift, especially running it through the gears.
