CEL after Fabspeed sport cat install

Hey everyone. I know there are a lot of people with this downpipe. I had mine installed yesterday by Fabspeed. I probably drove a hundred miles or so before the light come on. Has this happened to anyone else?

@bi0hazard had this happen to him but I don't remember the resolution. I hear sometimes the O2 sensor can be damaged during DP installation.

3k miles on mine with only beautiful noise and nice mid-RPM punch.

Yep mine came on for two days, after thousands of miles. Cleared after about 20 miles of driving. That was 1300 miles ago.

Yeah, the only reason I got a catted DP is because I didn't want codes and didn't plan on a tune yet. The first day I push the car, I get a CEL. It's so irritating.

Maybe just a bad batch or install issue. Fabspeed does have a guarantee on the CEL so reach out to whoever you purchased from and they should be able to help. Good luck!

100 percent sure they will take care, they have a well earned reputation. I suspect if you cleared that code it wouldn't pop up again but probably best to have them deal with it for you just in case. What do you think of the DP? Power sound?

No CEL warning and I have the same installed. I'm certain they will remedy the issue. Congrats, I hope you at least like the sound and power difference.

if it ends up staying on it could also be the o2 sensors swapped by accident during install

Haha. Apparently my car is only worth $30k. I'd rather keep it at that price. Still in line for the M2CS and new GT4 though.

I checked the code and it seems to be an intake related code: P120D. We also changed to a BMC filter but why would that trigger a code? Fabspeed is looking into it.

I don't think it's worth just 30K - but there has been an influx of supply of new M2s, and now the M2C is about to drop, so not surprised the market is a bit soft at the moment.

I'm sure things will level off and smooth out in the coming months.

That's a bummer. I was planning to do a Fabspeed Catted DP also this summer.

Yeah, I wish I didn't bother at this point. I wasted almost an entire day getting the install and half a day getting the issue resolved. Fabspeed has been helpful but "it's probably a coincidence". Umm I've had the car for two years with zero issues. They directed me to another shop to read the code. I'm not sure why since it was also pretty far from me. They reset my adaptive driver memory so hopefully that's the end of it.

does the filter come with oil on it or is it dry? oiled filters can throw a code.

OP: Downpipe code is P0420 (Catalyst System Below Threshold).

By the way, Autozone reads code for free.
