Rear Quarter Panel Preotective Film
So somehow got some scuff marks on the film close to the edge. Tried putting hot water on it but gather that it is not "self healing".
Any tips for removing these marks?

Of course you could try to polish some it out with quality plastic polishes; several on the market. An orbital polisher with a finish pad will probably reduce some of the visual you see. BUT, a quality detail shop can replace those panels very really very little cash outlay...to bring it all up to par. Try the plastic polishes first---then go for replacement. You won't be happy until you do.

It is interesting that they will make a decision to save 5 cents. Guess that is a volume business....
Thanks for the advice!

You are correct about production costs. My quarter panel film from factory worked...but just. They were put on for sooome initial buyer/paint protection, and nice that I guess.
But when I had the front done in Xpel, I had them replace the factory film and it added little to the cost. So far, the new ones have done very nicely, and polish up nice. |

Check this thread for more ideas on removing the scuff: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1485409. If it’s on, as opposed to in, the surface, you should be able to remove it. Otherwise, you can’t, because the surface is damaged and the BMW film is not self-healing.
It cost me an additional $60 to have larger pieces of Xpel applied to the rear quarters when I had the front end and rockers done when the car was new. |
