point taken. but trust me, my M3 is no grand tourer. my E63 felt way bigger. my 650 GC definitely was a fat grand tourer pig :

HUD? What are you talking about? I was quoting the person asking if the car was at the show.

Thanks for the reply Sam. As you can see we're starved for info and you're the only one that has driven the m2 that can give us a good breakdown on how the car feels compared to a lot of other great cars.

You could probably make another video of you just talking about the merits of the m2 vs cars like the m3/m4 and cayman, and throw it on YouTube and I'm sure you'd get a lot of traffic, as well as put all of these answers in one place. Just an idea

M2 or the GT350?

These are the two cars that intrigue me the most right now and if I decide to get a new car, it is going to be hard choosing between the two.

Yes that is true. The M3/M4 IMO out grown themselves. They are becoming slightly more grand tourer than what the M3 of the past once was.

Even the OP thinks so.

I like and respect them a great deal -- and I understand their popularity around here -- but the M2 is the one that pulls at my heartstrings. Here is a car I would buy with my own money. The M2 is not just good. The M2 is bad. It is a complete badass.

The M2 is yesterdays M3 IMO which is exactly why I want one.
Haha...the "too good for their own good" statement is one of the more um....interesting statements that I've seen on this forum regarding the M3. So to use it to justify your argument is worrisome.

Robb Holland a race car driver agrees that the M4 is more grand tourer

Is the M2 the perfect M? It is hands down better than the M4, which has turned into more of a grand tourer than a sports car.

Let me guess: Gabriel Bridger. His review said he had "a moment" in the Corkscrew.
And his car showed the number 2 in the windshield. Yours showed number 1.
Therefore I deduce that he was directly behind you and his "moment" was why
you and Bill Auberlen had to slow down and let the rest of the group catch up.

Good! That proves that you were relaxed in the car. Can't go fast without relaxing.

Pretty sure the Alfa Romeo Guiliia did a 7:39 around the ring and that is a 4 door saloon.

Is the Guillia smaller than the M3? I don't know much about that car but I thought I remember hearing that.

You guys are the lucky ones because cars cost so much more here! I once had the combination of a 997.2 GT3, 987 Spyder and E90 M3, and it was the perfect combination for all occasion. So I'm trying to recreate that by adding M2 to the GT4 and a 981 Spyder that's still on its way. Unfortunately my current M3 doesn't please me the way the E90 did.

I can't understand why people keep trying to make the M2 and M4 nearly identical... an M6 is not an M4 is not an M2.. period.
Calm down mate I was being sarcastic... FYI I've ordered an M2 and originally had an M4 on order.

I find it ironic the way we all praise more engagement, less autos, lighter cars, less grand tourers, etc.

However, the funny part is the fastest and largest ///M of them all (X5) will utterly destroy most of the cars we find to be lighter, more engaging, etc.

Regardless of the OP's opinion, he is probably dead on in his description of the "feel" of the car and the enjoyment it provides, rather than focus on the numbers, something many times is secondary to many enthusiasts.

Let this be known, I was a huge detractor of ///M as they went bigger, FI, etc but I have to admit haven driven every ///M they currently make other than this here spitfire and I can honestly say they are all special cars and would enjoy owning any of them. Will I always love and keep my S65 powered e92? 1000%. Will I probably have a X5 or M5 pig in garage soon? Yup. The me of two years ago would flat out drop me like a bag of bricks if he heard me now. Guess I'm learning to appreciate more things

Cheers,
e46e92
