I've been looking at both the M2 CS and current N55 M2. To be honest the more I study both options and the fact I have a an m3, I seriously would go with the n55.

Many reasons but at the end the current M2 is roughly 130 lbs lighter than the CS stock vs stock and around 10k price difference with current discounts available.

Plus I love the simplicity of the original version. I'm currently tuned on the S55 and frankly the power is inaccessible for the most part.

Nway just thought I throw it out there for those on the fence.

Are you looking to replace the M3, or add to the fleet? If adding, would your decision be different if you were trading in the M3, and go for the M2C instead?

I somehow missed this post. My check-in is 8 am and the actual delivery is 9 am as well. What color is yours?

I've actually got an order in for ED delivery near the first of August. It requires special permission from BMW, but my dealership is confident it will go through. Crossing my fingers!

Nice, congrats! Maybe they will product it in June/July and hold it for a while until your delivery?

So drove my new M2 to Buffalo yesterday from Toronto. I was taking it pretty easy but I like to drive fast. I am very aware of the weight of this car it is heavy compared to my JCW. It feels really "planted" though.
So a Honda is giving me a hard time right up my arse. I always travel at a safe distance especially at speed. Anyway the guy blows past then cuts me off. I sit back then see a gap on the right lane. Not full out (still running in) I am traveling around 140kph I stay in 6th and go for it pass a few cars and look down at the speedometer and I'm doing 200kph (125mph).
Guess at that point I realised that this is all the car you can ever need for your DD. OK if you are at the track all the time but most of us are not that person. Most people want the best fastest but like their phones they only use 10% of what is possible.
Anyone who bought an M2 is very lucky. These cars turn heads - just starting them up.
So would I consider trading up to an M2C. Absolutely not. Will that car be fun....of course it will. Any car of this calibre is fantastic. We are all so lucky.

S
I would replace the m3 if I go this route. Granted if I had not experienced the S55 already then I probably would be tempted to go with the CS.

However I would like to get an M car as a keeper and the 1M is out of the question. The e92 has been experienced and unless I was ready to go the stroker route I would prefer a smaller more nimble car, that has the torque required for city driving. The other issue with the CS is the brakes only come in the larger size that requires 19 inch wheels in all seasons including winter.

Also, One of the drawbacks of driving the S55 day to day is the ever present concern of the oil cooler so low to the ground and chance for damage. Its definitely doable but always something to be wary of. I drive my rwd cars thru all kinds of snowstorms despite the other cars at my disposal but the F80 is the only car where I was just as concerned about the front hitting pack of ice underneath as I was about getting back in line on a drift. Nevertheless it hasn't stopped me and will be getting an FallLine iND guard soon before next winter.

N55 M2 seems to make most sense the more I looked at options for longterm use but this is all predicated on the fact that current M2s are being sold at much lower figure than the CS coming.

The lightweight OG M2 will be produced until the end of June.

The total numbers will come out at some point.

It's official. Picking my M2 up in Munich on August 1st at 10:10am. I'm guessing yeah they're going to make it and just hold for my arrival. Took about two weeks for approval so it must be way out of normal limits.

Yep, yours will be one of the first 2019s made, or is it the last N55?
Congrats.

To all you getting an N55:
I've been following the development of the M2 since we'll before it was produced or available. And I've read pretty much everything available on the Comp.
I am currently 2nd in the list for an M2C at my dealer.

I had an opportunity to get an OG M2 two months ago and I loved driving it, but the timing wasn't right for me.
I have to buy new, because I want to finally do an ED and my next trip to Germany isn't until October of next year.

So, my situation dictates that I will get a Comp.
But if I had a choice of which one I'd get (if they were both available at that time), I'd get the OG (in MGM). Because it will be a daily driver and 99% street car, and as several people have pointed out, the OG has all the power you can realistically use on the street.

And if I take it to the track, I'm not trying to show off and compete with anybody but myself, so I don't need to be the fastest thing in the track - for me track time is just about me having fun.

Nobody with an N55 M2 should feel the slightest bit of jealousy - you have an amazing machine.

Plus, if you really had to have more power, for $6k, a Dinan P2 kit will give you well over 400 HP.
And if you really want an "upgrade", skip the Comp and get the next model.

In 16 months I'll have an M2C and even so I am jealous of you all!

My Dinan P2 installation was completed today on my 18 LCI that I did a European delivery in late March. All I can say is what a sweet addition to an already awesome driving car.

According to BMW USA it will likely be one of the last N55's produced. Kinda cool! Too bad they don't stamp it as such or something.

Anyone interested in Euro Delivery meetup in June?

I know a number of folks are picking up their 2018 LCI M2s in early June (as am I, on June 2). My driving buddy is coming along with me until the 16th... but I'll still be around by myself for 3 or so more days (until the 19th).

If anyone else who is doing ED during that time is interested in meeting up in/with their new LCI M2, that might be fun, and I'd be happy to get together if you are interested. I know some pretty good roads in the alps that you might be interested in exploring....
