Display Defaulting to MPH
Two days ago my car's selectable display (The one between the speedometer and RPM) started to default to the digital MPH display. I always like to have it showing the engine oil temperature. Now every time I restart the car it goes to the MPH and I have to push to BC button to change it. Any one else had this happen to them? My car is a 2018.

Yea, mine was like that before and now suddenly it's changed. I took it to a body shop 2 days ago to have the rear diffuser changed and since then the display has changed. I doubt they could have done something to change that. Is that something that might have made a change to the car's settings?

Try playing with your idrive settings. You can select what does and doesn't shows up in that center screen. Just turn everything off so the only things that should be selectable when you press BC are a blank screen and your oil temperature. See if that helps/changes anything.
I'm not by my car at the moment so I forget exactly where it is but it should be somewhere in vehicle or display settings. |

It worked! Thanks! I turned off all of the options for the display and the only thing left was the MPH and the oil temp. I changed it to oil temp with the BC button and turned off the car. When I turned it back on it showed the oil display again. I turned on all of the settings I wanted again and when I tested it again it stayed on the oil temp display. It's still weird that it stopped working right it in the first place. Hopefully it stays that way when I start it up tomorrow morning.

Don't know for certain that this would do it or that it was done but the shop may have disconnected the battery while working on your car.

Did your car get the software update / flash for the gauge cluster?
Mine was being stupid about remembering the BC setting until it went in for the cluster update (I had it done during the 1200mi break-in service).
