Some were slightly shorter so there is still an opportunity to meet that if it starts production today or tomorrow. I would call BMW Genius to confirm where you are in the process.

If I had to guess, it should start production by this Friday. It could leak into early next week though depending on how they are timing the productions.

I've been talking about getting this car for so long it kind of doesn't seem real that it's actually going to happen relatively soon. Maybe it will sink in when I see it in production on My BMW.

it arrived at the port in Baltimore on the 25th. Carrier scheduled to pick it up on the 28th and deliver to dealer on the 30th (today). Jan 16, 2016 - Placed order at local dealer - became number 1 on their list

May 27, 2016 - Offered HEA car at local dealership. Declined offer because it was not spec'd the way I wanted.

June 17, 2016 - Received notification that dealer had received allocation for one car.

June 20, 2016 - Received production number

July 12, 2016 - Car started production

July 25, 2016 - Car finished production

August 23, 2016 - Car arrived in South Carolina

September 23, 2016 - Scheduled for performance center delivery. Hope it happens as scheduled.

It has been a very frustrating process with little info coming from BMW. If it weren't for this forum, I don't know how I would have survived the last 6 months!! Thanks everyone.

Hate to say it, but the heartbreak continues long after the production start date. My car finished production 10 days ago and is still waiting for a ship. Then, according to the geniuses, it will be another 4-5 weeks before it's ready for pick up at my dealer. -scr

Called BMW Genius, my car was finished on the 18th, moved to the port on the 20th and has been sitting there 13 days later still not assigned to a ship yet. He said the longest he's seen is 4 weeks but 1-2 is normal.

Yea I was browsing the ships on https://www.2wglobal.com not too many of them dock in Galveston. It looks like 'Independence II' which left the 30th (ive read on this forum you might not know you're on a ship until a couple days after) or 'Integrity' which leaves the 9th and arrives 10/01 here in TX are our most likely options.

On a side note there is a ship called 'Glorious Leader'.

A few minutes ago, my CA emailed to say, "I wanted to let you know your M2 is now in transit to us with an eta to the VPC in Oxnard of 9/23. If you would like to track its progress here is a link to the vessel it is on." [Link deleted]

According to the link, my car is sailing aboard the Themis which, as far as I can tell from the location tracking map, is currently navigating the English Channel, just southeast of the Isle of Wight.

In summary:
2016-08-04 Entered production
2016-08-20 Finished production
2016-08-22 Released to carrier for transportation to port
2016-08-25 At port, waiting for a ship
2016-08-31 Aboard the Themis, heading for West Coast (Oxnard)
2016-09-23 Arrives at VPC, Oxnard (estimate)

My week 35 build that finished production on 08/27/16 has been released to carrier and is awaiting transportation to port of exit. I'm hoping that it can get on the 9/6/16 ship to NJ/NY but as we get closer and closer to that date the prospects look bleak.

It is actually right on time since production lasts approximately two weeks. It will finish production on Week 37.

Haha I wish! I think you may get lucky. Some cars that are on the Tortugas arrived at port and were loaded on the ship the same day. Today is Labor Day so BMW Geniuses aren't working (can't check exact status), but in Germany they don't have Labor Day so you may just be on that ship, and I just hope I can be on it with you!

Looks like are only hope is the ship Victory Leader (Great name to sail a M2). Almost to port as of a few minutes ago. Keep me posted if you get lucky and know something before I do!
