Been waiting for this car for so long. Are there pictures of what the blue looks like yet? Will this car be in limited production like the 1M?

I was always told BMW was supposed to be the brand for drivers, but seems like you have get a car with an "M" on it to be valid anymore. I've only test driven a few newer BMWs but after driving some friends older 3-series, they definitely don't feel nearly as sharp (speaking to the entry/mid level models).
I've owned a 135 and have driven an M235 and of course currently own a 1M. the 1M is totally unique. I can assure you it is not just 'hype'----it feels raw and alive and alert like no other modern car I've driven.

HP numbers and track times do not concern me at all...

There is a reason why people who sell their 1Ms for more expensive cars often wish for their 1M again...

I believe that we'll see a Comp Pack with the LCI release for 2 series.
They can't offer all the 'bells and whistles' from the beginning!
Same approach as with M3/ M4

Power is plenty. I think they key to the vehicle is chassis and cooling.

F8x brakes
Strong cooling
Better suspension
M steering calibration
Lsd
Wider track width

that combo, despite marginally looking better on paper, will create a solid car which will put down some nice track times.

I personally am a bit disappointed that there won't be a special motor for the car but I cannot deny it is going to kick some ass and probably be a ton of fun.

Damn, they're really sticking us in between a rock and a hard place with this.

Oh well, still super excited for even the slightest bit of news at this point haha.

Awwww man I'm Definately super gutted about no DG, Scott even said the complete car at Geneva was in Donington Grey

Black is 100% not an option for me, I find LBB to femanine, my current car is Alpine white, and I find Mineral grey too dark..

So it seems any colour I opt for is a compromise, but like Chris if I do get one it's likely going to be Alpine again (why not mineral FFS)

However only today I specked up a Silverstone F80

Very true. While not owning a 1m myself, I have had a 135i, 135i fbo w/ m suspension, 1m clone w/ s65 and m3 chassis ( same as 1m but with v8) and an e92. Even with owning the v8 1m clone and my stroker m3, I still am more tempted to add a 1m to the stable than a new m2. The 1m is just so good.

We have seen at least a dozen regretful 1m sellers with half of them buying a 1m again.

All of those unrealistic expectations being crushed. I love how unapologetic BMW is being with the M2. This is shaping up to be a fantastic car.

Let's be honest, you'd get an M2 and swap in one of those spare S65's you got laying around

And these numbers are the reason I decided to go the M4 route. I expected numbers low like this because BMW doesn't want to step on M4 buyers. The problem is with those numbers it's not enough to justify upgrading my M235i to it. I'm going M4. I guess either way BMW wins.

It is an M engine but I see where you're getting at. The 1 M had an upgraded normal engine also I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

I think all the recent turbo M engines have gone this path. Some just have more retooling than others. I could be wrong.

Hardly. There's actually been a few M cars with non-S derived engines, don't go freaking out so quickly:
