Any way to avoid that? I'm thinking maybe I need to be more intentional about bedding right after I swap pads? It's so hard to find a good spot for bedding brakes around town.

Is there any special process or recommendations swapping from your track day brakes to OEM? I put my OEMs back on and they sound like the squeal much much more now than before....

I'll drive around on my track pads for a day or so after the event around town at low speeds. When track pads are cold they're scrape everything off that rotor pretty quickly. The noise you hear is that direct contact to iron after all existing deposits have been removed.

Same with prior to an event. I'll swap the track pads in a few days before and allow them to remove the oem deposits. You can't really bed in track pads without doing 100+ mph stopping to get them into heat range, so I'll be a little cautious during the first track run of the event while they do bed in.

This may be a stupid question but - do you guys usually use track pads front and rear, or just front?

Not that anyone would, but it would make more sense to have track pads in the back and stock front. If you mix you normally want the more aggressive pad rear. I tried pfc11 front and pfc08 rear and it was awful lol

I thought the front gets most of the breaking.

It does but a track pad only front or more aggressive compound in front throws off the bias pretty bad and creates a lot of unintentional oversteer into corners

This is quite literally the worst advice at best and just disinformation at worst. First never run track pads front and stock rear or vice versa. However, if you want to run two different sets of track pads always run the the more aggressive pad up front.

That’s why I started my post with “not that anyone would”. Stating no one should mix street with track. But probably wrong on my end to dive into it.

And while more aggressive front is safest bet, I wouldn’t take it as gospel, I think it starts getting a little deep into the bite/modulation/release characteristics of the pad. 11 F and 08 R created severe unsettling of the rear into corners. Flipping provided a much smoother corner entry.

Anyone use ds1.11 rear with ds3.12 fronts?
I have ds3.12 all around and need new rears after a few front swaps.

Wonder if ds1.11 at the back works better with ds3.12s front?

We suggest running the same pad compound front and rear on these cars. If you run the DS3.12 on the front with the DS1.11 in the rear, you're shifting more work to the front because the DS3.12 has a higher coefficient of friction (mu) than the DS1.11. Effectively, you're overworking the fronts vs. the rears in that scenario. Again, same compound front and rear is the superior choice on an M2.

Missed this over the last 2 months. I have had it before with Raybestos ST-43s. Never really figured out why, but others may have the answer here.

P.S. I have now gone through my first set of Hawk DTC-60 pads. Very impressed with them. They lasted me 8 days total, and I just left them in all season long. So 8 track days and about 8000 street miles.

They are quiet enough in the Camaro to leave for street use, and they never once faded. I push DEEP into brake zones, and try not to brake till I see GOD. 90% of the time they are very confidence inspiring. 10% of the time I wished for more grip.

Will be getting another set. Bang for the buck is fantastic, and the fact I don't have to continue swapping pads is a huge plus.

Highly recommend.

I was curious about this myself. They appear to make incredibly nice pad options but they're VERY expensive compared to PFC, pagid, and ferodo. They're also not the easiest to get stateside, I think only a couple people stock them and the lead times are pretty long. Better off with PFC 08 or 11 and call it a day

Ah I was looking at blue brakes. What compound are you looking at? Looks like me20 or 22 is used or the expensive ma45b. Endless says ME are for lightweight cars so not sure their life span. I will say I loved how well pfc’s played with OEM pads. I’ve used both 08 and 11, and unless I go slicks I don’t see a need for anything else

I was wondering about ME20 or ME22 but really just trying to decided what to go for, those, or Ferrodo or.... Obviously the ferrodos are great but would love not to spend $1300 on pads.

I have been running Endless MS35 front and rear on my AP 9668/9451 setup and am very pleased, although I am only approximately half-way through my initial set. This compound for this pad shape wasn't stocked in the US at the time I ordered, and they are not cheap (relative term) at $1000 for the set.

A staggered ME20/22 setup was floated as an option but after doing some reading, I felt they may compare more to the Pagid RSL29 than the Ferodo DS3.12 so I asked about getting more initial bite which led to the MS35 compound. I may be a little off on this so I wouldn't point anyone away from the ME20 since the MS35 is difficult to get.

The Ferodo DS3.12 had previously been my favorite pad and I chose the Endless pass in hopes of finding a comparable pad that would cost less and potentially have a better wear rate. So far I would say they achieve both of those goals but are not quite the same the DS3.12 in terms of experience. The biggest difference I find between these two is the Endless feels like it is a bit more responsive and requires more finesse on initial application and release. Both provide excellent feel and modulation, and stopping power. Both are also surprisingly quiet when cold and easy to live with on the street.

Maybe in the future I'll try Cobalt or Hawk to see how they compare (and see if I can save more money), but even more so than tires, I'm less likely to throw out what I know for something I don't.
