You can say that again! I literally just wrote up how I got them out (http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=34). Hope this diagram helps others who do the mod. Cut my knuckles several times on the heat shield, but totally worth it

My buddy came to town, and we installed the acexxon horizontal slat reflector replacements. Thanks to IND for those. We also installed the Mode Carbon front spoiler which looks amazing on LBB. Thanks to Sam@ModeCarbon for the excellent service. Lastly we swapped out the chrome kidney grill surrounds for the gloss black ones from the F22, thanks to eBay for a relatively cheap mod. Since I have taken so much advice from the forum, I wanted to give some to anyone interested.

When you have the grills off, its worth your time to tape it up quickly and cover the radiator and use some black plastidip to cover the exposed color behind the grill. Its a small lip that keeps the grill in place. Took us an extra 15 mins including drying time. Well you gotta be a bit careful or you will peel off the plastidip you laid down. Since its plastidip, its a peel and forget if you dont like it. Not a real issue with Black or Grey, but makes a difference on white and LBB.

Great job, looks neat. I did this to my own car recently but in silver. I decided this area was the major culprit responsible for all the orange rust water spins out when you first drive off after a wheel wash. Mine were incredible rusty and moist so stripped them back and painted. I didn?t go as far as you in terms of removing the calliper and disk - didn?t really know how - is it as simple as unscrewing the two Allen bolts on the disc head?

Have to remove the caliper. Two bolts. Don't have to remove the pads. Yes, and than the fasteners holding on the disk and that's it.

Every BMW I ever owned this part gets so rusty. Did the fronts as well but did not go to this extant.

Oh, and just the lightest coating of grease on the mounting surface and wheel as well.

I was thinking OG TE-37s since they usually run center cap-less.

Be careful this does not cause you more grief than any perceived benefit. The hub to wheel bore has very little clearance. I had a set of winter steeled powder coated years ago and the wheel bore was not dressed out. They fit on fine but trying to get them off come spring was ridiculous. Had to get them in a shop on 4 poster and two guys with heavy mallets on a block of wood while the other rotated slowly. Took 1 hour of hard labour to get 4 wheels off. The heat obviously softens the paint and welds to the wheel.
