This was after seeing a white M235 at a stop light last night in Lewisville and I drove along with it for a couple of miles. I looked at the back quarters and the rear A LOT as we drove. I didn't have the heart to try and get the owner's attention from my DD SUV. When I got home I went into the garage myself last night and looked at my car and I came up with the same emotion. I love the rear haunches on the 1M. it looks far better from the rear 3/4 view and full rear view. I think the M2 will look better when we get to see the final rear diffuser.... but... I don't think it will change my overall opinion on the rear of the 2 series. I like the front end... overall shape.... I haven't liked the taillights and rear bumper on any of the 2 series yet.. And then I walked inside and saw M4 GTS videos and photos.. Agree with others that the M4 looks better. Quote:
Sell 1M for a MINT and get M2 ... Keep the 1M and Wait for M2 CSL.... keep 1M and order an X1.... if BMW would hurry up and announce an M2 gran coupe it would make my life a lot easier LOL Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 10-07-2015 at 12:24 PM.. |

The M235i front end with the performance splitter looks pretty darn good imho. Some middle ground between that and the M3/4 front would have been ideal. |

Either way, I'd highly recommend trying the E36 M3 as a cheap but fun daily car. Prices are still for the most part reasonable. It's plenty quick for DD duties, but at the same time, you can really use its 240 hp and not go to jail... too often.

Meh, not impressed. Was hoping for more fender flare closer to the 1M. If I could I'd purchase the 1M over this. However, still holding the faith till the reveal... only by a thread.

Newb question... Will a FBO m235i X drive be faster in the quarter than a M2 FBO?
You know, all wheel drive and all. What appeal, does the M2 have (besides exclusivity) for those that want to go fast in a straight line. |

The camo that remains on the car is hiding what I believe is it's most aggressive factor - it's shape of the rear flare. That's why the strip of camo remains. Look here: The rear flare is insane. But with the camo, the insanity is only visible from a specific angle. Hence why in these side shots, it looks weak. but if you see through the camo you can see how beastly the rear quarters will be. The camo is there for a reason, and it's obviously working very well. People are going to be 'WOWed' on reveal. |

You do know that the M2 is not just about straight line performance? You do realize that it has the subframe and suspension of the M3/M4? And possible weight savings as well. And you do know that a higher performance CSL variant has been alluded to? |

Any white color hides the creases and character lines on a car. Those lines appear as highlights on a dark color.

This car reminds me of the F80 with the two rear doors chopped off (that's a compliment). This coupe overall has better proportions than the F82.
A CF roof would have been pretty wicked, but maybe BMW will make reparation by bestowing this car with the original driving experience BMW used to be known for? We shall find out soon! |

I don't know man, this m2 needs to have the presence that the 1m had. This looks like a hooked up 235i. Not impressed, still hopeful as this m2 is on my list for weekend cars. The more I see the m2 and all these articles about f8x M, the more I want an e9x M3 again.

But I'm extremely happy that the oddball "door sill hockey stick" won't be on the M2:

I'll go even further and I'll say that there is a vent there like the GT Vision concept. Been saying it since the start, and if you remember me, I've been bring it up to you because you seem to be the most enthusiastic about the reveal. I think there is a false panel on this new white car where the rear quarter panel is. A forum member already spotted it but didn't know he did. If you look closely the rear quarter panel is an off-white and goes at a diagonal. The forum member thought it was from old camo, I think it's to cover up a vent (it's likely not functional). Even if there isn't a vent, that is definitely a false panel that is covering up the design language of the rear fender flares. The blue M2 where you drew the front bumper shows the arches a little better, look down near the side skirt and you can see there is the start to a false panel there too.
