Garage List
2011 BMW 1M  [8.40]
it looks OK....but it's definitely more M4 inspired than 1M or F80 M3 unfortunately. If it's a single turbo N55 it will still be behind an N54 or S55....

I feel like BMW is worried about the M2 stealing M4 sales....so they are being a little conservative with it's styling...

Still...should be interesting to see what's finally revealed at the end of this!

One more little news: A follower of my Facebook M2 fansite has seen in the bmw plant (paintshop) in Leipzig a couple of BMW M2s painted in estorilblue with the circular fuel caps.

Interesting....... a round fuel flap would seem like a very strange, not so important part, to re-do , re-tool and change.

However what if like the E9 and the 2GT concept the BWW roundel is coming to that rear section just behind the hoffmeister kink / C pillar?

Well, if you think about it, since the whole rear quarter is unique to the M2 and not shared with the series car, they'd likely have to rework the rectangular filler door anyway to flow with the new creases in the bodywork.

Regardless, I'm getting VERY excited for this car, along with many of you. Glad to see it's looking like it'll even get its own seats, even if they aren't identical to those in the F80/F82. That makes no CF roof a LITTLE easier to swallow...

I may be mistaken, but I can't think of another production BMW that has ever had a round filler cap!?

Yeah agreed on the all new rear panel for the M2 anyway, but to have a separate round filler cap seems different for sure.

Man this is a sad wait talking through micro detail

Time for a blast in the M4

... one more thing I'am currently thinking of:

Look at this picture and the frontlights:

There is a gap between the lights and the bodywork (near the indicator). Could this be a air breather like the GT Concept?

Scott said that there will be typical M vents behind the front wheels ... so the air could circulate?!

I have said this before and I think there is a chance but it is fairly small. I expect intense aero design like that to be saved for the CSL, but I will stick with my instincts that there is a non zero chance it makes it to the M2.

I'm not an expert aero guy by any means, but I don't see what that opening would be for. At least on the bottom of the bumper, the smooths the air going around the wheels, but what would that one by the headlight do?

It could also possibly be a curtain over the wheel as the bumper will most likely be designated to engine and brake cooling.

Could also be a "multi-zone" curtain, the side ducts on the bumper for lower and the one at the headlights for the upper area of the tyre, possibly helping with the circulation in the wheel arch, could create a low pressure zone which would then help the vent behind the front wheel pull air and thus heat from inside the wheel arch.

The opening outside the fangs are for turbulence around the wheels. Most new BMW's are like that, even the non M's.

The one in theory by the headlights, those I have no idea what they'd do... apart from look more aggressive than a regular 2er.

I think that what is being perceived as an opening by the corner of the headlights is just the black area of the camo. I don't think that there is a functionality to a duct being there. Down low makes sense, but up high not really. Like W/// said it would purely be for looks over function.

Yeah this, I would not read too much into the vent behind the front wheel, this is standard now since the 4 series etc and helps aero and efficiency. I too hope for an extra aero by the front light edge however Highly doubt it on the M2 but perhaps CSL yes?

Enough with the camo...I've been looking at this thread for two days straight!

I find it funny that people will leak naked celebrity photos...but NOBODY can find an image of an M car without camo! Priorities people...

Where's the guy responsible for The Frappening? We need to toss $5 each into a paypal account and fund this guy so he can get some photos!!!

I'm sure the M2 will get the M3/M4 side view mirrors...if the 1M got them...the M2 will get them.

I can pass on the CF Roof...it'll be for eye candy anyway. Nicer seats will definitely be a huge benefit though!

Any day now, I'm expecting a video of the car at the Nurburgring.

Either way, I'm just glad we got something new to look at. It was getting a little ridiculous.
