Drop Advice
I rolled through tons of options and I've decided on purchasing HR coilovers since it's a nice compromise in price, drop, value and viability. I've convinced myself that anything short of a coilover is cheaping out and inherently comprises the integrity of the suspension. I don't like the HAS options and KW's just seem like overkill since I've never tracked and don't plan on to.
My question here is advice on what to expect for spacers along with the drop. Do I just purchase spacers and they throw them on? Do I need to purchase unique lugs or bolts or whatever? Are spacers worth it? Do they come with any risk to the vehicle overall? |

depends on how big a spacer you're wanting to run.
a spacer will change your suspension geometry and stress points. but for the street its fine. ideally you'd just want to get a bigger wheel and tire combo. the shop should be able to throw them on easily while the wheels are off.

Maybe I'll just stick with the HR coils and call it a day? |

Most drop to BMW's recommended 595/600. At this height the correction to flush is 12 F / 10 R on spacers, so that's what most guys run (I recommend Burger Motorsport, they come with extended lugs, and there is no compromise on quality, so the car drives as stock). Depending on the tires you choose you might have a slight rub at full lock or on big bumps, but nothing damaging. If you want to go the super safe route then choose 10 F / 7.5 R. I experienced no rub with stock wheels/tires at 595/600. TAKE NOTE of how the car appears lower in the rear shot below vs the front shot. Pictures never tell the whole story, so keep that in mind. I went with Future Classics 10mm F/R, along with KWV3's and noticed a wider stance right away. I was obsessed with getting the exact height and as close to flush as possible, and glad I got it dialed into exactly how I want it.
Some warnings- some users had no issue, but I am at 593mm Front with 10mm, and had to roll the inner wheel lining to prevent rubbing- but also think lookswise, 12mm front would be as flush as 10mm rears.

Nothing fancy like rolling the fenders, but you need to heat the inner plastic lining with a heat gun, and once soft, I used a prybar against the tire to push the lining away from the tires, and held it in place while spraying cold water to cool down.
Took about 5 minutes each side.
