Hi all, I made a visit to the paint shop manager, in BMW Istanbul.
He mixed some samples for me. Unfortunately, It is impossible to understand anything from the mixtures, it needs to be sprayed on to the primer… I have chosen 2 colors for my Misano M2cs, first is the orijinal C3R and the second is Porsche Weissgelb 539. (On the paint system, base layer/primer is 20/80 mix of black/white for both colors.) After the base layer, C3R and 539 will be sprayed on two metal sample sheets. And on top of it, I wanted matte Lacquer and shiny Lacquer to be sprayed for the samples. In the end, we will have; Matte WC3R (original) Shiny WC3R Matte 539 Shiny 539 I will update you guys with the samples, when they are ready. |

Just to chime in with my 2 cents.. I believe the actual depth and reflections is based on either a semi chrome base coat or a ceramic polished base with a gold transparent top coat (you can actually use these as a base) then a matte / semi-matte clear. BMW backs this up by claiming they semi polish the wheels before adding a "gold top dye" - this being a coloured top coat.
That's why a lot of people struggle to match the frozen gold finish as there's so many shades of gold going on based on shadows and reflections. A standard powder coat colour/base will appear very flat.
