Confirmed! Titanium pistons on 2NH gold calipers.
Yesterday I took a piston out of the 2NH gold caliper and when I had it in my hand I immediately knew that it was titanium, lightweight, I still don't know what grade of titanium it is, tomorrow I will do some tests to find out if it is grade 5, I think the gray and red ones from m2c are basically the same material because 3 calipers weigh same.
I have weighed it together with a 24 socket wrench which is the one that most closely resembles the piston in dimensions, and as you can see the weight of the piston is significantly lower. Piston weight 62.7g. 24 socket wrench 102.7g. We can consider 2NH calipers one of the best on the market Last edited by Track/S; 04-15-2024 at 03:34 PM.. |

Is there a piston rebuild kit? My pistons are corroded on the inside. I always try to clean them out well when I swap pads. I plan to rebuild the seals soon and thinking I might replace the pistons while I have it all apart.
Anyone have a part number(s) or a kit that can be ordered? I only see kits for the seals and boots from Girodisk. |

No I don't. It was only in the center hole of the pitons and appeared to be aluminum corrosion based on the white color and soft dusty appearance. Reminded me of the crap on top of a lead battery or something you might see on an old boat. I used a small wire brush in an attempt to clean them up the last time I swapped pads. Looked like salt and water gets in there an is trapped causing the corrosion.
I found these https://racingbrake.com/bb-62bsp/ and thinking this may be a good option. Seems BMW doesn't offer the pistons separate from the whole caliper. |
