Even more reason not to waste money. Never needed any of that before and sure enough will not needed now.

Just BMW trying to milk you....

And the day you guys run over something small, that was alive, all in the name of not wanting some dimples on your bumper (and saving $1,400)....

Don't know who I'm more ashamed of, BMW or you....

Jeez....did you just learn to drive yesterday. None of these will ever protect you from your self.

Sad

More sad will be when you run over that little kid you had no chance of seeing as you back up. But hey, you don't need that option cause you know how to drive.

SHIT,I forgot about them!

Ok, seriously here, the exec package should be standard (and I believe some of it will be for 2018).

And I understand not wanting a heated steering wheel or the speed limit stuff, or automatic high beams, or wifi hotspot (well, not really, cause the heated steering wheel is the best invention in the world - at least here in Chicago!).

But the Rear View Camera, Park Distance control, and active driving assistant are important. And just because someone never had those in previous cars, it does not mean they don't need them and/or if they use them, they are a bad driver.

Like I said, I mostly blame BMW, but unless you exclusively track the car, the Exec package is a must.

What an inane comment. Turn your head and look back. Why would I not see the kid. I wonder what drivers did before back up cameras. OMG, thousands of children and cats must have died.

This is the first car I've owned with all the extra safety features in the Executive package. I turn my head all the time when backing up, but there will always be blind spots. I'll kiss the window sticker if any of the safety features ever prevents any personal or property damage and the likely insurance increases. As careful as you may be, it could be the other guy who is at fault.

Not that I dont disagree - but each and every year they make a better more powerful car. My 911 Turbo 2010 is an awesome car. Todays 2017 regular 911S has almost the same power and is almost as fast. Several years of evolution doesnt make my car any less fun to drive.

A person has to be satisfied with what they have and not look back on their decisions.

Looking at the Porsche 911 from 1969,70, 71, 72, 73. Over those years the displacement increase by .2 twice in the cycle (2.0 liter to 2.4 liter) In subsequent years it went to 2.7 and 3.0 and 3.2 and 3.6 and now is going back to 3.0 with 2 turbos.

Each of these cars is heralded for its uniqueness and character. To say that a 1969 911S 2.0 is more or less than a 1973 911S 2.4 is silly as they are equally enjoyable to drive.

How do folks now feel about the Executive Package for MY 2018 now that the rear backup camera is base standard equipment?

I ordered it on mine. I really prefer the Adaptive LED Headlights and like a couple the wireless charging and Active Driving Asst. as an extra safety margin. I have never been a fan of park distance control sensors ( they can prove worthy ) however. I do not care about the other inclusive options.

I can not imagine with or without will matter much for resale. Some people will have to have the aforementioned items but would think there would be plenty of buyers without them as well.

If I had been ready to buy during MY2017, I'd have skipped the Exec Pkg since the only thing I really wanted in it then was the backup cam, and that wasn't worth $1400; but now I'm getting the MY2018 Exec Pkg after all, mainly for the Adaptive LEDs. The other stuff in there is prob nice to have anyway.

Model Year 2018 ZEC Executive Package $1,550
  • 248 Heated Steering Wheel
  • 507 Park Distance Control (rear)
  • 552 Adaptive LED Headlights
  • 5AC Automatic high beams
  • 5AS Active Driving Assistant
  • 6NW Wireless Charging
  • 6WD WiFi Hotspot
  • 8TH Speed Limit Info
Aside from heated steering, adaptive LED and wireless charging could care less about the rest. Nonetheless, for all you get $1,550 is not bad.

To each their own however. I will agree on a small car like the M2 I just dont see a rear cam as that important.

I also passed on the exec to justify having some parts port installed! The mind games I play with myself:
Where are you in Houston, and when's your car arriving?

I wish manufacturers would try offering cooled seats and steering wheels down here!

There is nothing in the Executive Package I want or need for $1, much less $1,550, so I ordered my 2018 without it. A major reason is my experience with the nannies on other cars, which have kicked in for no reason and caused several dangerous situations. The technology is not perfected, and it's certainly not good enough for me to allow it to control my vehicle or my life.
