Same dials and steering wheel too right?

The M3/4 seats definitely look nicer, but I would really miss the thigh extender...and the blue stitching helps dress them up in the M2 as well....

Can't wait for the real comparison on the track!

If you believe the reviews and BMW advertising, i should sell my M4 and pick up a M2.

I just come from (downgrade?) a M5 stage 1 680hp to a M4.
I will wait another 6 months before i pull the trigger.

Facts:
Hockenheim M4>M2 by 0.2 sec
Ring M4>M2 6 secs slower
Dragrace M4=M2?, M4 is known to have bad traction.
Interior M4>M2
Sound M2>M4, just respect for the M2 sound
(maybe because the M division did not deliver the M4 with a proper M performance exhaust, as they should.)

I have now JB4 stage 2, ER DP's, KW coilovers and Akrapovic exhaust, so still enjoying the M4.

To all the new M2 owners: drive safe and enjoy! I'm honestly jealous.

I don't see why BMW would advertise M2 being better than M4. We all know that the M2 production numbers will be nowhere near M3 and M4 numbers combined. BMW implying M2 better than M4 would be shooting itself. I don't think BMW would ever want to hurt M3/4 sales by introducing M2. I think what they are trying to do is the exact opposite: Showing people that not everyone will be able to get their hands on an M2 so that they can incline towards the big brothers M3 and M4. Long story short, I don't think BMW encourages/supports/sponsors the reviews that position M2 being a better car than M4.

This is really an issue of choice and lack thereof, not of time setting it up. The Comfort/Sport rocker doesn't allow for any customization, so if you don't like the pre-selected mix, you're SOL. This is how my 335 is and I hate it. The M4 allows for changes between modes just as easily, in fact, even easier because you don't have to take your hands off the wheel. But if you don't like how the M1/M2 buttons are pre-programmed, you have the choice to change them to suit you. This is how my M3 is and I love it. The M2 doesn't allow you "to find out which combo suits you" and therefore isn't as flexible. Please understand, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the M2. By all accounts, it seems like an amazing car, but when you're comparing features, there's no way to reasonably say the Comfort/Sport rocker is better than the configurable M1/M2 buttons.

Interesting read and .

There is however something you got completely wrong, and it is about the intake systems and intercoolers.

But the cooling block is on the TOP of the engine, and it’s heavy, obviously.
And M2’s N55 don’t have it.

The S55 has a air-to-liquid intercooler while the N55 has an air-to-air intercooler (yes, it has one; it is located below the front bumper, see picture below). What this means is that the intake tract on the N55 is actually LONGER than the one on the S55 and has a greater volume of air. Both of which contribute to increase lag. There are two major benefits to an air-to-liquid intercooling system: greater heat exchange capacity and reduced lag. Further, the S55 twin turbo setup versus the twin scroll single turbo of the N55 makes for better response.

I don’t have the videos, but it’s true.
OP, I believe you.

A friend of mine blew the engine of a AMG45 in a mountain road by my house with a completely new car. Ridiculous. It was towed to the dealer and he wisely decided not to buy it
Meanwhile, this same friend can use my E46M3 with 167k miles with no problems!

God in that exhaust comparison video that M4 sounds like an old raspy turd in comparison.

I think it depends a lot on whether the car is moving - when sitting still, the back end of the M4 seems to go forever...it just looks unnecessarily long and oversized.

But I had a few good runs with an M4 a couple of weeks ago...and man that thing looked mean coming up next to me, behind me, and in front of me. That experience totally changed my impression of the car.

I think the M2 looks pretty good sitting still, but the 2 series generally has some odd/off angles. It will be interesting to see it in person and in motion.
Agree here. I love the looks of the M4 and M3. They do look mean! But they are just so big ! The door is long on the M4 and so is the quarter.

The M2 looks better proportioned but the quarter just doesn't do it for me and the taillights i don't like at all. The front of the M2 does look mean but I still prefer the m3 and m4 for looks.

Beautiful cars. I had the chance to drive my friend's 1M to Bimmerfest back in 2012 and was amazed at how pure that car felt. Hoping the M2 is similar, though I'll probably opt for an M235i when my lease is up next year.

Why marry when you can just lease?

Sorry guys, the review is bad. But not bad enough to be funny.

Lots of unsupported statements about CG, polar moment of inertia and other things. I'll eat my hat if the M2 has less turbo lag than the M4.

Never mind, can't wait to test drive an M2. Other than another M3, I truly can't seem to think of another car to get at the end of the lease...
