As for cruising, with the MT in 6th you go 72@3000rpm and 84@3500. With the DCT in 7th, you're at 76@2500 and 92@3000. So the MT is definitely running harder on the interstate.

The final ratio for both is 3.73

Still getting the '18 MT
Thanks for the data.... I also ordered an '18 MT. Hypothetically... I would rarely use 7th with DT unless cruising over 100 mph. 3500 rpm @ 84 mph w/ MT would be fine... hypothetically of course.

Well get the DCT then and you can get into 4th. But my MT is stuck in 3rd even in Texas. btw- is that on rural interstates?

Easier to read
Thanks for that .. the first gear in the DCT is super short. The DCT has a clear gearing advantage over the 6MT in gears 1 and 2 , a slight advantage in gears 3 and 4 and they are the same essentially in 5 and 6. This gives DCT the default advantage in all acceleration tests .. IIRC by about .2 seconds ..:

7th gear in the DCT definitely would avoid a lot of the boomy US rpm driving .. some companies do make a 7MT

? so if your going on a 2 hour trip down the highway, you'll keep the car in 5th? Expecting a sudden race at 75?
