How Many New Owners Have Done This?

My ED ended May 30, M2 loaded onto ship in Bremerhaven on 6/16, departed there 6/18. On to Belgium 6/19, then off to Bath England, arrival 6/21 with departure on 6/22. Then off to the Panama Canal with arrival 7/2, a day to get through there then off to Port Hueneme in California, with arrival scheduled for 7/11.

Okay, I have had the delivery schedule memorized since the first time I saw it. But is it normal for me to check the shipping site, every day since 6/16 to see where the ship is? How many of you have done this?

It's normal among many of us here - I did it for my first BMW in 2012 (not an ED but it was a custom order) and no doubt I'll be doing it again this Oct & Nov for my M2 ED (delivery 10/5, dropping off 10/13).

I certainly did. And that gave me the great good fortune of watching my ship pause off the Isle of Wight, sit there for 3 days, then get towed into the Port of Southampton, where it sat for three more weeks, until my car was offloaded onto another ship that actually made it stateside. All the while, of course, BMW Genius could tell me nothing at all about anything, other than that the first ship had broken down, and that they had no idea when I would get my car. Good times!!

Ouch! That clinches it, I'm going to continue checking the shipping site everyday!!

I'm sure I will be the same way with my soon-to-be-built M2. I certainly was with my MINI JCW 4 years ago, even when the system showed my car sitting on a boat on a landlocked lake in the middle of Russia for 4 days!

Oh yeah... I tracked mine obsessively. Several times a day at first, until I got the idea it wasn't changing much, lol! Not much to see across the Atlantic of course.

Was great tracking it as the ship turned to dock across the harbour from me.

Have fun with it.

Totally normal. I tracked mine so, uh, carefully that I was able to snap a picture of the car carrier Tugela with a long lens as it passed by my town along the Chesapeake Bay headed for the port of Baltimore. It was May 7th, and my BSM beauty was in there!

Of course - I've done this with all 6 of my BMW's Who wouldn't track the movement of their car daily!! Welcome to the BMW insanity.

Not only is it normal, I also started to check weather forecasts in Quebec when it got to North America. They predicted a Nor-eastern which only added to the drama. My ship did loops for 3 days circling around Quebec.
