2018 M2 Order - Port install M Performance Rear Diffuser?

Just placed my order for a 2018 M2. However, when trying to add the M Performance Rear Diffuser to the order, my CA said it is not showing up in the system as a port installed option. It can only be added at the dealership before delivery. Is this accurate? Is the diffuser no longer available as a port installed option?

I was able to get it added 3 months ago to a 17 at the port. I always prefer port installed as the dealer staff just doesn't get many opportunities to install these parts and I would prefer they are not busting our instructions for an install on my car. Go to the dealer and have them show you the ordering system on their computer. I know that I couldn't get the CF spoiler port installed at that time unless I ordered the M Perf Package which was MPE with CF tips, black grills and spoiler. Since I didn't want to do the CF exhaust tips I skipped the port installed CF.

Saw the dealer system to confirm lack of diffuser option for port installation. Really strange since I know many have had it port installed recently...ill keep digging into this though.

Maybe it's just that the 2018 part isn't ready yet ...

It's cheaper to do yourself anyways. I installed mine in 30 minutes plus a little loss of skin on my fingers.

So I have one of the last 2017 slots and the rear cf diffuser wasn't available either. The reason is they're out of stock. Tried to order it through the dealer but it's backorder until 2018. I ended up ordering it from online referral from here. Still deciding whether I'm going to try to install it myself or have the dealer do it.

I'm from Seattle too and also trying to decide between trying to install it myself or find a "professional" to do it. I'll have my M2 in about 3 weeks.

Let me know what you decide!

Seattle BMW quoted me $240 for the mirror caps and CF diffuser install which isn't bad so I think I'm going to go with them. Most of that labor is for the mirro caps and not the diffuser. Queen city quoted like $260 or something because they think you have to take off the bumper.

I have access to a garage with a lift but I do have concerns about installing the mirror caps so that's why I'm going with Seattle BMW.

I just placed my order yesterday for the 2018 model and didn't see the diffuser. However, I did notice a moonroof option and i'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about that since we didn't have that before in the States.

Does anyone know if the MP Coilovers was an option or is that only a dealer install? I couldn't find that either.

- EDIT: I just noticed a thread about the moonroof a little lower that for whatever reason I didn't find with a search earlier.

The more I think about it, the less excited I am about adding any M parts at the port. The amount of money that can be saved doing this myself after delivery is significant. Also, if I ever sell the car, I can just remove the parts and get some money back. Decisions decisions...

I had the rear diffuser and exhaust tips added by my dealers service dept (BMW Greenwich) and it was done without any issues.

I agree, I plan on installing most accessories myself for my 2018 M2.

Has anyone been able to order the M Performance Rear Diffuser as a port installed option on the LCI?

Mirror caps are much easier to install than the diffusor. You don't have to remove the bumper, although I suppose it might help. I didn't remove the bumper and it went on with a bit of a struggle. Getting the stuff port installed is a waste of money because you don't get the stock parts.

That's the thing.. I don't want the stock parts since I have no place to store them. Plus, I won't be modding the car. The way I take delivery will be the way it lives its entire life with me. Aside from tint.

I noticed if you ordered black MP grills with the car they charge you $400. that's insane. I'm getting mine on by myself for $115 with OEM part. Plus I can sell my chrome grill and make some money back from $115 I spent.

The grills cost about 275 from online retailers, so no where near the 115 you're quoting.

Little you know, you can buy OEM M235 Mperformance Black grills for $115.00 from bmwpartspros.com and swap out the black surroundings. Same exact thing for much less.

Lol.. I own a M235i vert now and had a M235i coupe prior, so I'm definitely in the know..

That said, this will be a car I own for the next decade, so I'm not concerned about saving a few hundred dollars on a car that's this expensive to begin with. I'm well past the days of modding my car and trying to squeeze a few dollars of savings in the process. I now value convenience and OEM quality above the alternatives.
