M car maintenance differ from non M?

I never owned an M but was always curious about this. Are these cars more expensive to maintain than other Bmw cars? I would think not normally but knowing Bmw they probably do have a higher cost of ownership.
Thoughts ??
Thx!

free maintenance for the warranty in the US.

after that....YES a bit more expensive to maintain as M cars require more aggressive and attentive maintenance! More fluid changes, more expensive parts, etc.

The good thing about NOT having an 'S' engine, however is that the engine maintenance is more like a non-M car.

Everything else, however, such as suspension, brakes, diff, etc are all M parts and M $$$.

you also get free lifetime roadside assistance for flat tires...lol.

Plus the "M" tax you will get from many shops because they think since you drive a M car, you should be able to afford to pay more for the same service. ;-)

There will certainly be a "run in service" wich is not mandatory on the non M cars.

1200 mile run in service for oil change and a few other small things.

Here in the uk the service inclusive price for around 3 years was:-

M4 £1000
M235i £400
320d £350

All approximate but you get the idea...great though for all you guys where it it free!

I am out of warranty with 73k miles on my 1M with no issues at all....I spend money on aggressive maintenance and have had no problems yet....I would skip extended warranties and use that money for maintenance.
