There is also another option for retrofitting seats into M2.
Sabelt SPS Sealts. Needs Macht Schnell Competition Liteweight Floor Mounts as well. The seat has all kind of adjustability - see pictures.

Someone also retrofitted into an F80 M3.

The point is that they're amazing... but I have to agree on the cost. Too much $$ for me to rationally consider

Glad you spoke up. The M235i seats are fantastic for comfort and performance. I think they have all the support and adjustment of E9x M3 seats with some added comfort as well. Unless you want to look cool or are a massive track junkie, the OEM seats will be quite good.
