IMO,waiting is a wise move on your part.
The M2 will be produced continually for, I think, 2.5 to three years. Whats more, by my rough calculations, the US will get about 2500 M2s over that period. Chances are good you can negotiate a deal on one of those.
BTW, if your open to out of area dealers, try this guy:http://www.schompbmw.com/

I don't know, small dealers like mine might not get any the first year. Mine didn't get their first and only 1M until October 20th (also happens to be our wedding anniversary and the only reason I can remember our anniversary....Waka Waka! ) when I think they started deliveries in april /may and ended in dec.

I'm not saying it is reasonable for someone to pay those prices, it's just that there is always someone willing to pay the 'early adopter' fee if supply is limited enough.

My CA told me 354 dealers. I am a little worried, but they received two 1M allocations, so I'm hoping they at least get 2 M2 allocations (BTW I'm #2 on the list with refundable deposit).

I'm sorry, I wasn't arguing with you...after reading my post I can see how it could look that way. I was really saying..."what dipshits!"

That is who I am dealing with. I got on the list a few months ago and I was number 13 on the list already. I'm sure by now it's huge. I am also sure people have dropped out ahead of me so I don't know my current position. I am trying not to flood them with messages when I know they don't have the answers.

No, I know it's not limited, but I keep hearing a number of 600 for first year production in the US...

No apology required! I didn't take it that way - and even if you disagreed, you are entitled to your own opinion. I'm in total agreement, BTW.

Short model year, makes sense.

Then get the 2nd year- Less bugs is a given anyways.

Gonna be a couple weeks till we figure out exactly what the numbers are as in production, allocations, how many model years it'll span, and all that.
But i'm still going for what I'm going for, LBB M2 DCT. I started inquiring seriously about the car only 3 months ago, so it was too late for me to get on a list, but my biggest hope is that it isn't limited pro. Its not looking like it right now at least, especially since we know there WILL be an LCI.
If all else fails, id still go for an F80/82, as long as its a funky color exterior and CarbonStructure on the inside. I got time.

My dealer here in Seattle claim they have 10 deposits at 5K each. Tired to put my name in but once I started asking for guaranteed sale at MSRP they went radio silent. Those 10 people are in for surprise.

It clearly is limited, because dealers are taking orders without being able to give build dates.

My issue is the opposite. I already have 2 coupes, so I'll be getting an F80 most likely. If I were you, I'd prob go M2

That's the 3rd time I've heard the 600 number. I'm positive that can't be coincidence.

My advice is that if you aren't already on a list, just wait it out until July 2017 when the LCI comes out

I'm thinking this too. My latest 2 cars taught me the blindingly obvious financial lesson of early adopter vs LCI profiter in BMWs plans too. M4 was very early and M135i is an LCI with cracking discount and better looking that before.

I fall into that category of who is buying now vs still buying. I was not all that excited until the official reveal and now I know what I would like my next car to be if priced right. I feel they revealed the perfect car for me, love the enhanced looks and performance, its enough for my needs.

If I can get a MG, DCT, for under 55k, it is done deal come summer 2017.

Is allocation for each dealer different than European Delivery? I have a pretty good relationship with a local dealer, so I'm wondering instead of putting myself on a waitlist, if I could just place an order for ED. He won't be back in the office until tomorrow, so I kind of have to wait till then.
