You sure have that right Ronin. If you can afford around the $60K mark, it's absolutely amazing what you can get.

If I could get my hands on one, I would buy one. I have a bad feeling people are in for a rude awakening for the first 12 months if you dont have your name on a list already..which I dont. Regrettfully I am going to have to buy before the M2 will be for general availability...

I personally see the value of this car up until about 55k. Once its over 55k Im starting to look at ATS-V, Hellcat, M3, GT350, (future z28)...Once you get near 60k the market is crowded with amazing cars. BMW pulled a brilliant move with this car starting at 51k...

Most likely. I spoke with my SA last night and they told me that I can put down a $500 refundable deposit, but that the manager hasn't decided if they are going to charge over MSRP yet

Yes sir! That's me - we were @ Walmart that time.

I moved to Dallas when Zimmer bought Biomet.

Got rid of the 135, got a 235, now I have a Cayman S - it's too bad we can't go for some runs now!

I'm leaning heavily towards an M3. Probably 70/30 split in favor of the F80. Shocking, I know. Considering I've been drooling over this car for years now. And it's not really that the M2 did anything wrong, it's more like I'm really falling for the way these older BMW's (E36 M3) drive. And no, I'm not complaining about stupid things people love to do lately about mirrors and seats and no CF roof

Looks: Tie
Space: F80. Would be nice to retire the E36 and make the F80 the DD. Would be stupid not to when you are paying all this money. The extra space and doors could come in handy
Engine: S55
Nimble/Fun: M2. But I already have an E36, so what am I really bringing to the table with the M2?
Interior: F80. But just because I really wanted cloth seats.
Availability: Moot point for me. Because the F80 is much more expensive, I'd have to hold off until at least Summer 2016. But most people aren't going to be able to get an M2 until then anyway, so tie.
Weight: Tie. This is the part that bugs me a little. With how I'd option out the F80, they'd pretty much weigh the same

Having said all this, the M2 is definitely still on the table and I'll definitely be on this forum for a while. What would absolutely bring me back would be:
1) If I can't afford an F80
2) The reviews come out and say this is the second coming of the E30 M3. It has to be THAT good

Either way, this is currently what I'm aiming for :

I really wanted an M2 but it's just a cheap and cheerful M car, the rear looks like an SUV and the front just looks silly, I even saved a deposit but I wouldn't even swap my M135i for an M2, the M4 is so much better on so many levels so why would anyone want an M2 unless you can't afford an M4? It's much the same weight and width so you can't say the size is a factor, just look at that M3 above and tell me that doesn't look 10x better than an M2?

I have the 2nd allocation at my dealer, and it's going to be a game time decision for me. I also haven't decided about lease vs. purchase, and I doubt that the M2 will lease well at this point. Still have some time to think about the decision, at least...

The size isn't a factor? The M4 is roughly the same length as an E39 M5.That is way to big of a car for me.

I can't say that I am surprised. The F80 is the best looking BMW right now - we will see if the M2 can take that title away after we can all see it in the flesh.

It makes sense for you too - you've already got two coupes...why do you need a 3rd? Unless it's significantly different?

I am trying to convince my girl that she needs an M in her life - she actually prefers the F80 over the M2 as well - but now that we know what the M2 looks like, at least we know it's going to look good.

That would be a great combo!

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the F80 would have the better engine, the E36 would still be more nimble and the E92 would still be my favorite M car of all time.

Having said that, if I had to start from fresh with nothing in the garage, I'd probably be leaning towards the M2 myself!

'I wouldn't swap my M135i for an M2'

Ah, so finally the true reason for your distaste shows.

I am also looking at adding a 1299 Panigale S, which is about 40% of the cost of the M2...so it's a nice value proposition.

I assume no one has any information on when orders open up? I spoke with my dealer and there is nothing yet, as expected. 24 hours seems like a month already.

Does anyone have an educated guess on when the order sheets are released?

Orders in the US should open up in the next few weeks. The European market is getting the M2 first so i think orders open up there tomorrow.
