Several pre-production M2 on US soil - Full specs of 30 discovered

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Update: Artemis has discovered even more M2's in the US (see below).

Today I ran into this while searching on one of those websites that provide company profiles and public import/export info from Bill of Ladings. Apparently at least 10 pre production M2s arrived on US in September, in these screenshots you can see the VIN for those 10+ cars.

Keep in mind that the date on the screenshot, is the date the vessel arrived at the first US port during that vessel's trip. Some of them arrived at the end of September so im guessing those are media cars and not test mules...

I don't know how relevant this information is, but I figured I would just share it anyway.

Artemis also located many more M2's already in the US:

Anyone else do the math on the weight of each vehicle? FWIW, it comes out to 3,465lbs per car which may or not be significant depending on how shipping weight compares to what we think of as curb weight

I registered yesterday and I will attend the LA Auto Show November 18 when manufactures have their debuts.

I really hope the M2 will be there!

If you use the top one with just the x1 and 4 m2's and subtract the weight of the new x1 28i off of the total you can find the average of the m2.

Comes out to be 3414lb

Edit: Did it for the one with the two 330e's as well and got a weight of 3385 for the m2's

Good points. Weight is in the expected range although we don't know how much fuel they're carrying.

Impressive work all around boys. Who knows if it's accurate and who cares but just finding this list and then backing into the weights is pretty much something you'd only find on a BMW enthusiast forum. lol.

I missed the first 4 which have a May production date. Saw 1 in AW...which one had the DCT? I could swear they all said MECH.

Also power rating of 272kw = 365hp.

Ah ok. I was looking at Transmission: MECH. I see the DCT is in the options list.

So far the VINs go well into the 82x range.....

EDIT: WBS1H9C52GV351829 is the latest US produced model with a date of 9/18. Some with M Driver's Package.

It seems like they've had the car in final form for a while now if they're using cars from May as media cars. I'm betting the recent track tests are either to fine tune the ECU which they can download to these media cars before reveal or are testing optional upgrades like coilovers.
