Yes, but Castrol edge 5w40 isn't as good as the 0w40 variant, or other ll01 approved oils.

However the 0w40 doesn't have ll01 certifications which you would want for a car still under warranty. In that case I would go for Quaker state euro 5w40 instead, because it's ll01 approved and better than Castrol edge 5w40.

Yeah no problem let me know if you have any other questions, and that's the correct link, it's my personal favorite oil too.

Yeah I heard that might be the case. If you can get Pennzoil platnium euro 5w40 that is the same oil (shell owns both pennzoil and quakerstate so the euro 5w40 oils are actually rebaged shell helix ultra 5w40) that is an alternative (pennzoil is easier to find in Canada and quakerstate is easier to find in the US). Otherwise motul xcess gen 2 5w40 is really good LL01 approved oil as well (make sure it is gen 2 because the original xcess kind of sucks).

If you can't find those 2 then castrol edge 5w40 or valvoline euro (I can't remember which one is LL01 approved) are fine, albeit the afforementioned oils are way better.

I bought some 1-quart bottles earlier this week, looks like those are now out of stock as well. More expensive than buying 5-quart jugs but still less than the Pennzoil equivalent from Amazon when I checked there earlier this week.

The link you provided lists this as an LL-01 approved oil - comments seemed to suggest it was not? But FWIW, I'm deeply suspicious of anything in a big box place like Walmart since they are known to coerce manufacturers into tweaking products to be cheaper.

Castrol edge 5w40 is indeed ll01. But it's not as good as the non ll01 approved oils like their edge 0w30 and 0w40 or even other ll01 oils.

So if you need an ll01 oil there are much better options like Pennzoil platinum euro 5w40.

Has anyone used Motul 300V 5W-40? I was thinking of using this for some track days.

You can and I think plenty of people have on the F8x forums, but if you are under warranty I'd just use the X-Cess Gen 2 5W-40 since it has LL01.

If you track often, yes. If warranty, as stated, go GEN2 5W40.

I just switch to the platinum Euro 5w40 anybody notice on a cold start the engine really made some noise. They really say it’s not good to go from a 0w to a 5w. Anybody experience this any input?

I'm currently using Pennzoil platnium Euro 5w40 as well, and no noise or issue to report of. Everything is as smooth (if not smoother) than before.

You topped up the oil correctly right?
