What I'm saying is look at the market, the amount of manuals have decreased significantly. Sure there will always be some options, but it's a dying breed.

Based on what you described in the OP I'd say manual.
Yes, the DCT has an extra gear (the 6th gear in both is the same). I wouldn't worry about the highway driving, the engine really doesn't care if it spins at 2000 or 3000 and the noise is similar. |

Can you please elaborate on what you said about 'hybrid manual'?
Blips throttle for you. Has hideous rev hang. Does hill starts for you (I'm not joking), crawls along in traffic. If you really want a manual car, get an older car. The whole experience then gels together beautifully. Note: I do still also own an older manual car which I enjoy. This sort of puts me off the manual in the M2 as it's so diluted and doesn't fit the character of the car at all. The DCT is an absolute joy. |

Whoah I don't know who's saying DCT is rubbish but this is my first and I like it. I come from a decade of racing motorcycles in local clubs and we put some much tech in them like quick shifter and auto blipper to make the clutch go away that DCT gets a nice welcome from me. M2 manual feels rubbery but more engaging for sure.

UPDATE
I have contacted 2 dealers, who spoke with BMW Australia- No manual transmission M2C to test drive in my state (Vic). In fact, there is only one manual demo car in the whole country. How is BMW expecting customers to buy a car without test driving? Not sure I'm prepared to buy a car without testing the transmission, as much as the car itself. |

Even in the US, for awhile it was very hard to find manual M2C. And even if you did, very seldom were you allowed to test drive one. Maybe you can find another 2 series with a stick? Not 100% comparable, but you get the idea.

I live in Houston; 4th largest city in the US. These cars are not easy to find in manual. Seems like most are custom ordered. Dealers are only stocking what they know will sell, DCT. |

However, I feel DCT/Autos are getting faster and faster each lifecycle. Remember when everyone thought the SMGs were vastly superior in its shifting capabilities. Sure this generation of DCTs are truly special. But at least with manuals, it has the timelessness factor. Regardless which transmission the OP chooses, it's gonna be a lot of fun!

I know people that have been driving manual "their whole lives" that don't know how to downshift properly, let alone heal toe. Driving manual takes more skill than auto. It's more rewarding too. |

This 6MT is great, not rifle bolt like on the NSX, S2000 or ITR but still very nice. |

I haven't counted but, good portion of you (kind members who replied to my OP) seem to be driving a manual. Maybe even 70% or 80% (guess)... do you think you are more vocal than DCT owners OR are there that many more 6MT drivers on this forum? Just curious.
