M Performance Carbon Diffuser - is this normal?

So I picked up a M Performance carbon diffuser a week ago (new from a dealership). When I unboxed it, the backside (I know, it's not seen) looks pretty awful. Is this normal or should I be worried about this?

Ive bought and sold so much carbon fiber, from the shittiest quality to the full on prepregged autoclave'd stuff, some do look crappy from the inside, But nothing close to the stuff you have. I'd return it even if it only shows from the inside, those chips and cracks will find its way up to the other side once its exposed to out door heat and exhaust heat.

It looks like shit, take it back.

Wow. I would never accept a premium product to look like this. Hopefully no one goes through issues like their other products, i.e. exhaust.

This is mainly my concern. I'm contacting the dealer where I bought it from to see what they can do.

Doesn't look nearly as bad as mine. It almost looks like someone stuck a plastic bag on the carbon while it was drying and forgot to pull it off.

Thus far 2-1 normal.

That is absolutely normal. Mine was worse. IND Distribution confirmed it's normal, and I've had two M diffusers for my M2 with the same look. Nothing to worry about, I also asked the same question in another thread and everyone confirmed it was normal.

This how pre preg CF looks like out the mold. You can see the hand work and reinforcement layers of the part. Only the first layer in the mold counts for cosmetics.

Totally normal. Who cares how the back looks. At least you know it's real layers of carbon fiber!
