On weekends, if you are from Taipei, you can head up to the mountains taking Route 106. There's also Route 9 that takes you from Taipei to YiLan and also Route 2 as well. There will be cafes along these routes and that's where people gather and take rests.

Traffic starts around 8~9am, so we try to head up early all the time. People do late night runs as well, but no cafes open at that time, we just chill by 7-11's lol

Stripes are strong in Taiwan apparently.. . .. I've never seen so many stripes on M cars..

I totally love the Yellow M2 but my gawd it's already yellow.. does it need a racing stripe?

For M school, it has to be supported by the BMW master dealer as well, but all they care about is making $$; after sales service sux balls and techs are bad at troubleshooting... so ultimately I don't think M school will ever happen here.
I believe Dapeng Bay International Circuit is a proper F1 track (Near Kaohsiung) and there is another smaller track (Lipao Racing Park near Taichung). I looked these up before we went over for Computex. I expect either of these would make a good venue for an M school.

I would bet if you could get folks to supply their own cars (as the dealers likely won't do this) you might be able to solicit BMW to provide the instruction. Sort of like a track day with BMW Instructors.

The mountain roads in Taiwan are absolutely unsafe for any type of ad-hoc motor sports. They are very narrow with so many blind curves and always some traffic lurking just beyond. Anybody sporting around on the small winding roads in Taiwan is a fool.

Slightly over 200 M2's sold here with more to come as there are still people on the waiting list...

It's a very popular car I guess for its size and performance. M2's here cost like US$ 110K and in other parts of Asia like China, Thailand etc... they cost even more.
USD 110k?!

How come it is so expensive? If we do European delivery from the US it's under USD 50k. That's over 100% mark up

Wow, popular $110K car and looks like all driven by young teenagers...life must be good over there.
Wow "young teenagers"? That's awfully condescending of you. What makes you think it's alright to call other people that?

Import tax. That's not even that bad considering a base honda civic costs around 135k USD in singapore.

Anyway, you guys need to set up some sort of track school at one of the local (2?) tracks in Taiwan. I know at least 2 PDC Instructors who I bet would love to come over and do an M school!

It's a real shame to hear your issues with after service in Taiwan. I really love your country. I've been a few times.

Currently I own a 1M in Japan and have just started a relationship with a great performance shop, Studie AG. Prior to my 1M I had the deeply traumatic experience of owning an E60 M5 in Hong Kong. I couldn't have made a bigger mistake: buying a high maintenance car in a bad service country. Hopefully at least your M2 will be far more reliable and durable such that the poor after service does not cause you too much pain.

That carbon hood on AW reminds me of how hideous the "new" hood alignment is.
