Unstable Engine RPM, Need Your Advice!

Hey guys, hope you can give me some advice if it's a normal situation. I just installed Dinan Sport Tuner and start seeing a bit unstable engine RPM while downshifting into "1" then stop, the engine RPM will go up a bit into 900rpm then back to ready position 650rpm around. I wasn't aware this situation before this mod but just want to get your thought about this.

Is that OK situation?

I don't see that exact problem but I do notice when cruising at a consistent speed rpm's/ boost seems to very ever so slightly. Which setting are you using? I seemed to settled with sport or 2psi IIRC. I also have a fabspeed cat and at higher altitude in Denver, as a disclaimer.

Hey, I got Sport+ as default setup and I'm in Chicagoland area. It happens when I downshift and always slightly go up (200rpm) then back to the normal position. Besides this Sport Tuner and High-flow air filter, I keep the rest of setting as stock. Just started realizing this situation after installed couple days later.

Hmmm. Disconnect the unit and see if the problem persists. If if doesn't, reconnect it and see if the same issue occurs. If you're still getting the unstable rpm, it's probably related to the Sport tuner. Dinan_Engineering can give words of wisdom I'm sure.

Sounds like the auto-blip, rev match...? You downshift into first gear before you stop?

If you're using an oiled air filter, ensure none gets on the MAF sensor. Known to f it up.

Thanks for your reminder. Actually it's oiled filter and just out of box without other process. Do u know the detail situation looks like if MAF sensor got issue?

I'd try to back it down to Dinan Sport setting and see if it helps. Sport+ just didn't seem right to me so didn't leave it for very long.

3 things to try:
1 Remove Sport Tuner
2 Remove or replace air filter
3 Clean (maybe replace) MAF sensor, if 1 and/or 2 aren't the cause

I've read where an air filter alone, such as the BMS intake, can sometimes cause a rough idle similar to what you are seeing.

Will try, so u're running with Sport mode now? For me, Sport+ is a bit "Note quite fit" so maybe have the similar feeling u have.

Sorry I checked last night, the rpm up then down after I stop. I'm thinking about MAF sensor since I'm using AFE oiled air filter. Possible?

I only ran Sport+ a few times and for me it just didn't seem as natural of a feeling. Too boosty, if that makes sense but don't recall your exact issue. I can just change mine back and test it again. I also punched it at 70 one time on the highway and the traction control light lit up for a few seconds in S+ and thought, I really don't need this much power, traction is more of an issue. Just another reason I've been leaving it in Sport. Between the Dinan and the Fabspeed Cat I have no complaints!

Really appreciated your sharing. I'm strongly suspecting my MAF sensor got issue because oiled air filter. So I will try to clean tonight, what's avg rpm when the car stop? After this mod, I only got around 500-550rpm in the stop after the couple runs. It's kind of low right?

Update - just done one thing, after I replace aFe oiled air filter then the issue solved. I didn't clean MAF sensor neither, I really don't why it could solve. But after the couple runs, the unstable RPM just gone. The car still with Sport Tuner with S+ setting.

Any idea?

The reason I suggested it is recollection that certain intakes are known to cause a rough idle.
