Sounds truly horrible. Must be the S55.

Looks like a little change to the rear diffuser. LCI is taking shape for sure. Just need a good render now...

I'm pretty sure it was just a fabricated bumper to hide the real thing... At least I hope they don't do a 3 vertically slanted strip on each side...

It is. But it's wearing what appears to be a little less camo.

It's ... it's camo. There's just slightly less of it than previous videos. And a new diffuser.

It's doubtful for the CS. If they build an M2 GTS $$$, then maybe.

It's not too much torque, it's that it all comes rushing in over 200 RPM or so at low revs, and can take you by surprise. If you actually keep the engine over 3-4000 RPM as you would on track, it's perfect. More of a danger on the street as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also running 305 rears on track, and I find I'd like more grip at the front currently. Go figure.

Not a surprise here. Since my 1M purchase.. and having been in all three F8x models ... I've long said that current BMWs need as big a tire as you can possibly fit at both the front ( most importantly ) *and* the rear ...

My 1M loves 285/30 front and 315/30 rear... one day I might even try 335s out back.

Ya, I'm not well versed in the camo game.

I'm glad it's not indicative of what's underneath.

Damn, 335s fit at the back? That's awesome. How amazing would that look?

When I test drove an M3 with CP, I floored it merging on the hwy. I looked down to see what kind of numbers were there, and saw the DSC light flashing away on 3rd gear. It was exciting in a very different way to my NA M's.

All I could hear was tire squeals.

Having lived with my F80 for almost a month now, I think the engine and exhaust sounds pretty good - it could be better, of course, but it's pretty nice for a stock system.

If BMW gives the CS a similar sound, I would guess the sound won't be as big of a gripe as when the F80/82 debuted.

Completely agreed. It doesn't sound as good as the N55T IMHO, but nowhere as bad as people make it seem. The CP exhaust really helped out a lot.

Having said that, I wouldn't bother putting an aftermarket muffler on an S55 powered car personally. It's plenty loud, and turns even raspier than it already is. Half the videos of aftermarket exhausts make me go

Yes. The torque in these new cars is just insane and it's available at like 1400 rpm. Like nearly ALL of it.

The 1M has plenty of clearance for more tire. The only thing stopping me from really seriously trying a 335 is that I know I would need more than 285 up front.

20-30 mm stagger front to rear is perfect but go more than that and you are back to understeer.

The M2 seems to be really hard to fit tires under. It's difficult for me to understand what anyone will do with an M2 CS with an S55 in it when the car already is way under - tired.

I had no clue how badly I was spinning the 285/30 rear track tires on my car until I tried 315s.

I was like holy crap! I can actually put the power down ... !

Exactly - the sound was my favorite part of the 981, and it is the main thing that I miss about it. The M3 sounds good under load, but it's quiet as a church when you are downshifting through the gears to a complete stop. There's just no noise at all until you get to ~20ish MPH and sub-3000 RPMs.

If I could find a way to address THAT, the car would be perfectly suited for my needs. I agree, I don't think a different exhaust will do much for the S55 - I think you can do more with an X pipe or downpipe swap, just based on what I've heard online.

Louder doesn't necessarily mean better, so it will be interesting to see what "note" is achieved with the detuned S55 in the M2 CS.

AMG guy not happy...he sworn in to armour up the 2019 A45

In October 2012 the same AMG R&D chief Tobias Moers referred to the BMW 1M as benchmark within its league: "But I soon realized that this was a unique opportunity to rewrite the rules, to set new standards and eclipse the competition. From day one, I wanted this car to better the BMW 1-series M coupe." (http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...amg_prototype/)

The BMW 1M heritage is still highly acclaimed and - unlike the Mercedes A45 AMG - its (resale) value still pretty strong.

Yep because the 1M looks heaps better than the A45

In retrospect, the intangible value of the 1M was cast by the raw and fun driving experience it uniquely provides. This value increases as time goes by since newer performance cars have a lot more nanny electronics build in and are not perceived to be as fun even though they are faster.

This leads to a stabilisation and sometimes an appreciation of the 1M's monetary value in the secondary market given the limited supply.

The value of the A45 was set by its ease of speed from technologies and this value decreases overtime when newer and faster cars come on stage.

Yeah this is what most people forget, it applies to the luxury and tech too. What endures is the car's character, and most recent cars don't have any character.
