First car that truly made me give up my 10 year E46 ownership and others have done the same switch as well. The E9x was pushing it for size IMHO.... the current F8x is way larger than it should be for an M3.
Yeah okay that's fair...I wonder if any of that was intentional on BMWs part or it's more from people really wanting to have some of the old school BMW dynamics back and the M2 is the only car in the last ~15yrs to show signs of doing that.

The M2 was obviously derived from the 2 series, a car widely praised by pretty much everyone when it debuted, especially the M235i, a car with great dynamics. Adding M components made it that much better.

I have both right now, along with a E46 M3(and several other M's) and I can tell you that the M2 is my favorite BMW ever. While I love the 1M, the M2 seems to have reached that magical point of balance and power from a stock M car. It's very much like the E46 M3 but better in every area. Much like the 1M.
I also have a 2017 M4 and while it's a wonderful car, it's way too big to be as loved by me as the 2 smaller M's. I'm glad I have them both (1M and M2) as they will be "keepers", but the M4 and all the others will come and go.

This review says it all, and I do indeed hope BMW is listing...
