CF M Performance spoiler - trunk gaps

My dealership installed the M Performance spoiler however they were not able to eliminate a 2cm long gap between the trunk and the spoiler on the edge.
They said it is perfectly normal and the spoiler has been glued to the trunk.

I collected the car form the dealership in the following condition (BMW - a premium brand ):

After removing the stripes:

What guys do you think? Do you have any gaps between spoiler and trunk?

Mine is flat with just the tape. There is one exact sweet spot for placement of the spoiler. It took me 30 minutes to line it up. I had it taped down to the trunk before adhering it while I kept making minor adjustments until I hit the sweet spot. I also had all the old original spoiler adhesive off.

Mine is perfectly flat too, using only the double sided tape.

Are your sure you can't slide a business card or similar under the spoiler for the first inch or so?

My guess is since I believe they are hand made minor variations will exist to keep most from lying perfectly flat.

I can get a piece of printer paper under the edge a little. Nothing bigger. The further back the spoiler is mounted the higher the edges go.

I wonder if using the Betalink would help the gaps. I always planned to get the spolier and just use the 3m. I don't think I could stand gaps because the stock one fits perfect.

Betalink is not the solution. Its all about positioning. I quit using that stuff 10 years ago. You will not be able to line it up. You have one shot using betalink. Install videos make this install look easy. It is more technical than it looks.

The stock one fits differently because its sits on the trunk further away from the edge.

Now that it has gone through some heat cycles my edges have lifted some. I can see the tape has gone gooey. I need stick some black windshield sealer under it to try and stick it

My M Perf. CF spoiler already had double sided tape mounted when it arrived.....Cleaning the goo off was the hardest and longest part for me.

When I was ready to put it on I positioned and repositioned till Iwas satisfied...the curve of spoiler will sorta follow the curve of the car see two pics of left right sides......so I have little to no gap.

For those of you with gaps I would suggest using 3M dum dum strips, for lack of a better word. The stuff is flexible and can be smoothed using WD40 to fill in minor gaps and provide a better appearance for those of you with gaps. Got mine today, will be a couple of weeks before I have a chance to install it. FWIW I installed one on my 135i years ago and it fit flawlessly.

I'm shopping for a rear lip spoiler. I wonder if Mod Carbon is better fit.

The OEM fit is excellent, the tape on the end just seems week. I will clean underneath the edges and squeeze some windshield adhesive under the ends and that will hold it better. The tape everywhere else on the spoiler is holding fine.

Did you guys use a 3M adhesive promoter. I've use it before in other projects. Its suppose to give more adhesion.

Heat up the paint prior to adhesion with a heat gun if necessary. The promoter will help curing too. I cleaned with rubbing alcohol, sprayed some rubbing alcohol over the paint/adhesion areas to allow a little movement prior to setting. Keep the spoiler taped and exposed to sun for a bit to allow it to cure.

I never had any lifting with my MP 135 trunk spoiler using this method.
