Bad Noise while turning wheel
Hey Everyone,
First time M owner here. I've been having a great time with the M2 but I hear really loud noises, high pitched creaking, like strained noises when I turn the wheel while stationary. Basically only when getting out of the garage. Anyone have any experience with something like this? THANKS |

Have your top mounts checked at the dealer! Mine were replaced after having the issues of cracking noises coming from within the dashboard and only when I turned the steering wheel when I was stationary or driving really slow.

Same noise as original post
Hi, first post here. I know this issue was discussed years ago, but was this issue resolved? Was the replacement of the top mounts the solution?
I am having the same issue at 13k miles on 2018 M2 when turning at various speeds. |

It is not normal. For sure take it to the dealer and have it checked. My 2017 M2 does not have / has never had this issue and I'm at 40k miles.

Mine (2018 LCI) does this, too (only when turning sharply while stationary after backing out of the driveway in the morning). I've gotten so used to it that I barely notice it anymore.

My car was making a noise when turning the wheels while stationary, at low speeds, and when going over bumps. The dealership replaced the stiffening plate under the car and installed new bolts. This seems to have worked so far.

This is normal; I thought it was the differential creaking from being parked all night. I have gotten my car fully PPI'd and nothing noted of any issues . I hear this creak sound often but it seems to come from behind/the Diff, not from turning the wheel.
edit- I see the issue is specifically pertaining to the turning of the wheel (not just the motion of pulling out of your garage) |
