I have a '17 with the HK and I coded off the ASD - no white noise at all.

Im totally dumb founded
1st off idk how anyone hears a difference...It adds a slight aount of bass in sport and more in sport +...In comfort mode I dont think ASD works...
I say this because I installed a 2400 watt amp 1 ohm stable to 2 DVC 2ohm P3 Rockford Fosgate P3s and I can say if you use a high end High Low converter/Line Driver/ AVOId rolloff like the Audio Control Lci2 and you grab the proper wires ( The stock underseat sub wires , (where they leave the stock amp in the trunk) , Because volume doesnt control ASD i almost blew my subs first time driving in Sport = w ASD active. With the car in comfort even w 2400 watts and 600RMS 12" Subs you dont hear it at all... Points of my post... 1.I dont think ASD works in comfort 2. ASD mainly adds Bass the speakers which a. steals from music quality and b. You CAN NOT Add a properly installed Subwoofer without coding off ASD.. Also as a persons who has carly for both ios and android, Its always seemed to feature more with android.

I'm tempted to code off ASD for the purpose of having better quality sound especially bass in my music. I originally wanted to add a 12in sub but then realize I don't want that extra weight. The thing about ASD tho is it doesn't really bother me at all and feel like it's very well synced with the car. But everyone who coded it off doesn't seem to regret it. |

However, I also noticed that the stereo system is not as loud as before and the speaker is rear bias. I had to adjust the Fade all the way to the front. I than took my trunk apart again and remove the cable and listen to the stereo....big difference (this is while i'm parked engine off). Does any one else notice this after this mod? |

I just coded mine off and will never put it back on. What a pleasure to drive without it.

I pulled my fuse for the first time today. The car still sounds mean as hell. I typically drive with the window down, so am used to the car sound.
Friends always say it sounds great, and they hear it from the outside, not me. I may do the bypass cable to lose my ASD. Seems some who code it with Bimmercode have problems putting it back if they try. Cable is an easy back out.

I installed my bypass cable today. The car still sounds mean as hell. The stereo sounds cleaner. If I decide I want my ASD back, it's a 15 minute deal.
I have a 400 mile drive to do next week to get to our eclipse house. I think it'll be a tad more pleasant without the 80 mph drone.

hmmmm, my manual 2017 w/ ASD at 80mph isn't bad at all. Of course I'm usually playing my stereo while on the interstate.

Did this 2 days ago. 15 minutes and 50 bucks. The EXHAUST sounds wicked and the stereo better. I'm very happy with it. 6 hour drive coming on Saturday to our eclipse house and won't miss that fake drone.

Can't Carly code it out? Here is their note on it for our cars.. Note is a little convoluted though (does it produce a fault code or doesnt it?). Still, I interpret this to be codable:
------------------------------------------------- These topics can be coded in your 2 series (F2x, F87). For more information about coding, see here. Active Sound Design Active Sound Design Mode • off • M5/M6 Mode for Active Sound Design. The Active Sound Design module produces an amplified exhaust sound in the interior through the speakers. If you disable this function a fault code in the ASD might appear. To remove this fault code restore the ASD from ist original backup, since the fault code appeared because the ASD has been disabled. (codable in ASD) -------------------------------------

The first thing I did when I got the car was code out ASD. I didn't even give it a chance - fake sounds? No thanks.
I'm actually kind of curious how it does sound lol. |

Bimmercode. Easy Peasy. The tip I would give beginners is to keep the engine running on when you code. If the engine isn't running it could cut out halfway through the implementation when the car goes into standby or something.
I panicked the first time that happened since my changes were being applied, but luckily the app creates backups and then when I figured out what happened, I just kept the car running everytime I code. |
