I just noticed the F-Chassis N55 now has a valve cover, offered by Vargas Turbo. Does anyone know if this adds any benefits ? Or is it just preventative maintenance ? I haven't seen many installed on the M2s and see no reviews on it. I'm assuming it would stop the plastic valve cover from cracking but I never heard of anyone having this issue, even when big turbo'd. I know only one guy who has it installed and he is currently build turbo'd just like my build. We have very similar builds and was curious if this would be smart to add onto my big turbo M2 build as well. Pictures below are not mine, they are @m2lightweight on Instagram

I was curious about this as well, the only thing I saw about it from someone who owns it was the bung at the front of the valve cover is poorly placed, they said it was throwing excess oil into the catch can, basically slinging it off the timing chain etc. I cannot confirm but curious to see others chime in as I want one.

I actually just DM'd the owner and he said, "With the valve cover you can have a breather filter and plumb in the catch can better." So I guess that is accurate. I was also told it allows external PVC routing.

It's about the same price as the vtt and no fitting right at the timing chain area, figured I would link it, lead time is this month, when time comes I'm probably going with the m18.

Just found this aluminum valve cover. It seems to work fine, paint is mediocre quality, but it looks extremely good. It will probably do better against heat and makes your engine bay look like eye candy. For $160, I might just buy it. Only issue I heard is that the O2 holes need different bolts, but that should be an easy fix

I been doing more research recently and many are saying the same thing but I heard it works if you use the middle port and leave the bottom port untouched. I also heard about fitment issues where the OEM gasket is needed to be reinstalled to ensure proper sealing. I think I’m buying one soon but worried about running into issues.

I’m curious what you end up with. Hoping to do mine before spring, it’s not leaking but it’s on original gasket and cover and I want to check it off my list, likely going with the m18 cover if they come in stock, they have a great reputation in the n54 world for covers.

I talked to my shop and another shop and they don’t recommend I go with it. Now I think I’m having second thoughts. Also, Tony at Vargas came off offensive when I asked him if he experienced any issues with his customers having the valve cover on. Vargas has always had a bad rep, personally I don’t think I want it now especially after how rude he was at me smh.

Vargas generally gets this way, hence why nothing from Vargas is on my car. The m18 valve cover looks to be set up very nicely when comparing the Vargas lay out.
That being said a lot of people don’t like aluminum covers for their reasons and some don’t like plastic.
I think n54 guys brought more demand than n55 guys due to n54 running more top mount applications etc.

When mine fails I’ll see where my priorities are at the moment and I may still end up with a stock cover, the stock pcv system, when it works, works very well. So I can see the lean on both directions.

I’m kinda doing the same plan. I guess I’ll just buy one when I need it. I’m bottom mount so I should be fine.

I refuse to run any Vargas parts ever. If he was the last BMW performance store in business, I'd sell my car and buy Prius before I'd ever give that dude money. Hes a POS. How hes still in business is beyond me.

Yea I posted on FaceBook about the part and someone found out that Tony actually was sentenced to jail with a $50k bail out for beating up his girlfriend. His business is appartently taken over from his father, who had a stuff bussiness with turbo parts. Tony is definitely a POS and doesn’t know how to communicate well with his customers. I bet he makes little to no sales…
