M2 vs c63
Hey all,
So in cross shopping coupes, I found that it an entry level c63 with options such as multimedia/nav, and a couple of other basics can be had for about 71-72k. After discounts and incentives, I could possibly be below 65k, which isn’t far from a typical dealer loaded dct m2. What do you guys think? |

I'd definitely go M4 over a non-S C63. It will be more dynamically rewarding and just as fast in a straight line.
And to get to $65k on an M2, various M performance parts need to be added. A fully loaded (including moonroof) is a hair over $60k.

C63 is definitely a more of a car than a M2. C63 has a monster V8 Turbo Engine (which I prefer much more over the M4 engine), and much better interior (better than M4 IMO). Only thing I don't like about the C63 is the rear styling and the wheel design.
Here is my rating per different parts throughout the car: Engine: C63>M4>M2 Sound: C63>M2>M4 Handling: M2>M4>C63 Front design: M2>C63>M4 Rear design: M2 LCI>M3>M4>C63 Interior: C63>M4>M2 Wheels: M2/4>C63 The car I'd choose: M2>M3>C63 Coupe>M4>C63 sedan (I'm a BMW fanboy so I can't help but to choose an M car over the AMG with my own wallet) In my novice rating above, C63 beats the M cars in 3 categories out of 7. It has all my respect for sure.

if you actually like the rear of the 63, go for it. it's a hell of a car. If AMG made the C63 sedan with wide body like the M3, that would be my first choice over any M cars.

I drove the C63S at COTA as part of the AMG academy. As termigni said, it's one hell of a car. That engine is just pure thunder — that downshift still rings in my ear. The interior is at a different league and makes you realize that BMW doesn't really care about it's interiors much (including M3/M4). Every single thing that you touch feels solid and really well thought out. Those AMG seats were ultra supportive on the track.
It hides its weight really well — my car was equipped for CCB so fade wasn't an issue, but I've heard about fade issues with steel rotors on the track. Transmission wasn't as fast as DCT, but it's very close. M2 is a very different car — it's more old school and rewards you at the track . The front end bite of the M2 on the track matches cars double its price. It's just wants to dance along on the track, but not a good daily though (as compared to the AMG) That said, you are not going to track your M2, I would recommend c63s over any M car. |

My buddy has the current gen C63S with the performance exhaust and the sound is simply awesome. Its roar makes my M2 sound like a kitten. IMO, the C63S wins the exterior & interior looks/quality, engine, transmission, and sound when compared with the M2/3/4. As others have said, the M2 is for someone who wants a shorter wheelbase, sporty car and can live with 2 doors. For everyone else, I would recommend the C63 (especially the S!) over any comparable BMW.

Your kitten needs a downpipe and aftermarket exhaust.

I'm sure catted ones are. The less restrictive 200 cell (compared to 600 cell oem) not only provide a throatier sound and low-end spool capabilities, their HJS cats are considered the highest quality which will hold up better over the long haul. I'm speaking specifically of the Fabspeed sport cat DP here. Where the C63S does sound good, it's a bit raspy for my liking. My exhaust setup sounds deeper, sort of like an F Type R lite. The N55 does have its shortcomings but sound potential isn't one of them.

Not really a fair comparison of C63S to M2. M4 is a better parallel.
A fully loaded, as in every available option, M2 comes in at $62,950 A fully loaded C63S is into the $90s. I would hope that another 30 large gets you something more. A buddy has a new C63S and it is a monster. I just didn't want to spend that much, although I came pretty close. |

Why not M4 ZCP? Same price, similar discount.

OP, As others have mentioned, it depends on what you're looking for. For me, the M2 was the no brainer choice, vs the C63. My top priorities were, manual trans, handling & 4 seats. So my recommendation to you is, decide what you really want to get out of a car.
Here's why, because in your other post, you mentioned that you had an offer for an M2 with $3,500 off. An M2 with paint option, DCT and Exec pack, comes in at $59,495 minus $3,500 equals $55,995. That's a $9,000 difference between the M2 (excluding BMW's 3 year free maintenance) and a similarly optioned C63 ($1,800, 3 year maintenance package). With maintenance in the equation, we're now looking at $10k+ difference. So if I were you, I'd be asking myself, are the benefits of the C63 plus my desire to own one, worth the price difference? Good luck on your decision and let us know what you choose. |

Well I must say I love our '14 CLS550, one of the best cars I ever get to drive. Every time we go somewhere it is a joy, don't think the new gen cars are that nice, I feel they cheated out.......it does lack light weight and handling. But they do not get much nicer then it.
Loved my F82 but the F87 might be the right size for just about everything |

Also, another question is possible use at HPDE events. The gap widens here, in favor of the M2. The M2 is a driver's car and the C63 is a GT car. The sound/engine in the C63 is awesome...it's a motor with wheels

As I mentioned earlier, I was deciding between the c63 when I bought the M2. I have never owned a BMW so I decided to see why they can cause such cult love... And now I know why
The C63 was honestly my favorite but the car is just bigger in every dimension compared to the m2. Plus they depreciate like a rock!!! The 2016 sedans have already depreciated 30K off of their sticker just a year and a half ago. I'll buy a C63s coupe. But ill wait a few years so I don't eat 35K of depreciation in a years time. |

The C63 looks to me like something that would belong to a 60 year old overweight successful lawyer with 3 double chins. The M2 looks to me something that would belong to a young successful professional... such as my good self ha ha ha !
