It’ll be a while before I can get back out there, but isjoey will be at PCA and NCC events. Looking forward to running with you all sometime.
Nice. Yeah, we might fill up a run group with all M2s...

- MCS 2-way remotes

- AP calipers front, stock rear
- PFC 11s
- Fabspeed downpipe w/MPE

Can't help but think how quick these cars could be with some weight removed and aero
Wow! Great time.

How much louder has the Fabspeed made your MPE? Also, what size R7s are you running?

Thanks isjoey! I only had ~40 min or so in dry conditions last Sunday.. I think the car is capable of sub 1:20s as it's set up now, and I'm looking forward to exploring that

I'd say that it's marginally louder but a mellower and overall more pleasing sound with the Fabspeed DP. The R7s are 275/35 18 square.

Would like to try the Pirelli's that arudeone is running next.

M2 brake cooling

I have taken my 2017 M2 to Chin Track Days at Sebring 14 times since I bought it in Jan 2017. That is about 35 track hours or so. Somewhere between 1500 and 1700 track milea out of 8000 total on the odemeter.

I have been through three sets of OEM front rotors and two sets of OEM pads and one now have Hawk Street/Track pads on third set of OEM rotors up frint.

I have just replaced the rear pads but the rotors are still 8n spec (barely).

This weekend I again roasted the front rotors after only 3 1/2 track days. Prognosis is Hawk Pads overheated OEM rotors. Brake lines have Castrol React SRF and ECS steel braided brake lines so heat tolerable.

BMW in Tampa recommends more airflow as M2 brake cooling ducts are mostly cosmetic.

I have found Pegasas but not many other brake cooling duct kit vendors for M2.

Any suggestions?

DIY brake ducts

If you look up my post about DIY ducts ( I am tech slow so I didn't post the link), you will see my home made solution. I have tracked my car at Road Atlanta, Sebring, Barber, AMP, NCM, etc using PFC08 pads and Motul 660. I also use temp strips on the calipers and flush/bleed after every weekend. After 50+ track days (lost count) I am ready for my third front rotor set and the second set of rears look great. I often run slicks and brake hard, but caliper temps stay below 450, on the outside. The brakes are amazing and the wear rate for pads and rotors is excellent for a car this fast and heavy. I think my low tech ducts really make a huge difference.

My initial thought is it is related to the Hawk pads. Although, there are a number of members who run them. Killing the rotors in three days - you are the first I have heard doing this. Which Hawk pad model? It must be a conflict in materials between the rotors and pads. You might want to give PFC 08 or 11 a try.

I when though my front rotors in 15 track days, some not full days. The rears were still fine although I replaced all of them as I am trying PFC 11s from 08s to start the year off.

Wow, thanks. Sounds like that does the trick. I will look for that post on homemade ducts.

2:11.7s at VIR this weekend. Both in traffic with points, I definitely had faster laps but they were blocked. After reviewing the video it appears I am over driving the car a bit as well. The car certainly has much more!

VIR Full

2:09.13

ds1.11 pads
camber plates
Pirelli DH Slicks

Best time for day 1 and was looking at 2:08.5 predictive when I blew my left rear tire to start day 2. Did some juggling with a friends mostly toasted 305/660/18's and got them mounted during lunch and salvaged the day...but they were a little to fried (or maybe I was) to better my time. Next trip.

I dropped my Summit Point best to 1:24.3 this past weekend. With new RE-71Rs I feel 1:22s is possible, we will see.

Very Nice. The new pavement is really great. I'm signed up for NCC on the 11th so I'll see you there. Friday is set and Saturday waitlisted...

Yeah I need to register for this if I still can. Was a great time at VIR. Bettered my previous PB by 2 sec to 2:11.62 still just RS-4s and PFC 08 pads.

First track day of the year yesterday with BMWCCA at Lime Rock Park. Trying a new setup with Apex wheels 18x10 and Nitto NT01 275/35 square. Running 3.2 degrees of camber, makes it look pretty mean.

The temps were very accommodating hovering in the 60s for most of the day. Car felt good and the tires have more in them than what I pushed. Happy to be in the 1:01s at the first track day of the year.

Nice. Just wondering what size spacers you are running with the wheels? Also, What kind of mic are you running with the I'm assuming GoPro setup?

Thanks. Running 12mm spacers in the front. Good clearance of the coilovers and just enough for the fender liners and top of the wheel well.

I was disappointed with the video in terms of perspective and exposure as I just assumed that my last settings were going to be carried over and didn't check. The GoPro is a Hero 3. Microphone is a basic lavalier microphone that I have wire out back through the trunk and taped to my license plate. Helps get the exhaust sounds rather than the interior wind noise.
