3D Design Gauge Panel
Has anyone installed the 3D Design Gauge Panel available from IND? I'm curious about the clearance with the cup holders and the little cubby back there.
Also, any idea where to purchase gauges for it? I would like to get some that match the colors already in the car's gauges and backlight. I know a lot of people like the AWRON and the P2 gauges, but I already looked at those, and I'm looking at options that don't lose me an air vent. |

We can also help you with gauges! If you're sticking with the gauge pod, Stack has some of the more "timeless" looks which I really like:
Otherwise, there are some new-ish options from the likes of Defi that are pretty neat, but certainly a little more in your face. Let me know if you'd like some help deciding!

I really like the Defi Racer models, specially the White Racer Gauge:
I think it would match the Dashboard cluster pretty well and do a good job blending in. The Advance A1 looks really cool, and I like that the display turns off similar to the Dashboard gauges, and the only thing I would change is to have red needles... But they don't seem to come in 52mm which is what the pod works with: I saw the options from STACK, and they look sweet. Got that functional look to them and they have configurable backlight color... But I wonder if the orange will match the rest of the orange ambient lighting or if I would have to stick to white... By the way, you mentioned sticking with the 3D Design Pod, do you know of any other options? I haven't seen much else out there, other than universal mounts. But I want to get something that blends in pretty well with the rest of the car, so I'm open to any options that work with that idea. |

The Stack gauge actually changes color based on the parameters set for that particular read out which is pretty awesome so you don't have to be constantly glancing at them to ensure things aren't about to go awry. Here's a little more info: Quote:

The more I see the Advance A1, the more I fall in love with it, though... I'm going to regret not going for those gauges if I go for the Defi Racers... I think I might need to do a bit more research on the mounts, see if I can get something that fits that size.
Really torn, though. I like the 3D Pods, too. |

If you plan on using the guage pod from 3D design.....You are limited to 52mm guages. Defi A1 will not fit. Also in the instructions, it says, you cannot use tray 500 ml bottle will hit. if this is pod is installed.
Im still trying to figure out how to remove the trim....dont wanna break stuff. IND any suggestion on how to remove the trim? Anyone? |

Yeah, I know. If I go with the 3D Design piece I would outfit it with the Defi Racer gauges that come in 52mm.
Thing is I really like the A1 gauges, so maybe I'm going to look around a bit if there are any other pod options out there. What 500mL bottle are talking about, GreyF87 ? |

Yeah, I figured. That cup holder is really uncomfortable for bottles, anyway. I use the one on the door. I use that center spot to hold the ashtray and my phone. Probably leave the bluetooth thing for the M Performance Exhaust there too.

Everyone who is recommending gauges. Are these old style analogue gauges where you have to run line to the engine bay and install various taps (water, vacuum. etc) or are they obd2 gauges?

Autometer has Air Drive guages......Defi has the Can Driver...
Autometer looks more simple to install....Defi a bit mnore complicated. Supposedly you just plug into OBD2 port. https://www.autometer.com/gauges/air...ofile=products https://www.rallysportdirect.com/par...sensor-adaptor |

I personally love adding extra gauges. Can look really aircraft cockpit and can make a huge change to the way the interior looks. Also you have a permanent connection to the values you choose.

Say, Mike@IND, I'm kinda warming up to the idea of the Stack gauges. Can you get me a quote for the 3D Design Pod with the gauges? I was thinking about getting it with gauges for Boost, A/F Mix a Oil Temperature... But I'm kinda on the fence on the Oil temp, since I have one on the dash. Does free it up, though, since it goes away when you have directions and I can put something else there.

Anyone know where you get the tap adapters for our cars? Water temp and boost are normally easy buy with a superficial search I can't see any place to tap the oil temp or pressure...
Looks like most on this forum pay someone else to do this sort of work. For me it is another way of bonding with my car...pulling it apart and putting it back together.

Anyway I'm out of this discussion as IND have told me that that this pod only works on the 16-17 models not the LCI - for some reason they made the dash as one (the piece that this replaces is not removable) end of story.

Well, the pod by 3D Design that you can get on IND is for 52mm.
By the way, Mike, I noticed on the product page that the product says it fits only Pre-LCI models. My M2 is MY2018, so it's LCI, and I was wondering if it would fit regardless... Or is there some other alternative to the 3D Design Gauge Pod? |
