Chaos and a clean slate is sometimes good.
If you take away all the speculation and just focused on the facts (close to facts) and what you have actually seen and by that, I mean:
1, Various test mules,
2, VINs,
3, Different sized wheels and brakes,
4, Production schedule leaks,
5, Part list leaks (There is a reason I leaked the ones I did),

Now think of the most logical scenario that makes sense and you will have your answer.

Then I guess that 'Agent G' (Agent Gatte) screened M2 VINs and got an answer about S55 M2 identity.

Agent Gatte did not have to screen VINs.

He can try to lead others to arrive at the same conclusion as himself.

To be honest, it looks a bit silly, but not too bad with chrome kidneys. With black kidneys though it looks ridiculous!
The 7er , 6er GT , 5er and M5 all have this to accommodate the front camera when specified. But also it is a nostalgic feature to illustrate BMWs up to the 1990's with their wide grille , slimmer kidneys and exposed double round headlights.
If you look at the black section it aligns perfectly with the lower edge of the headlights and at the top at the bonnet line. So it looks like one piece.
The newer models will now offer a joint kidney grille. Starting with the M2 and the exciting new 8er.

In 2017 BMW filed 48 kidneys designs for trademark protection (figurative mark) (source: public WIPO Global Brand Database).

Kidney designs featuring double slats (///M cars) (apparently not yet the 'joint kidney grille' design):

German trademark (filed in January 2017) + International trademark (filed in May 2017)

I think it was stated that the grilles appeared to be joint and not joint actually.

In this day and age, the wording needs to be spot on.

Does this mean that the new M2 Competition is going to get the particulate filter?Maybe it will only apply to European cars.

"Unfortunately, the M3 is not available right now. But over there in our showroom we got a loaded M2 Competition and an M4, both for approximately the same price."

Seems odd that they are going to do work to keep manufacturing the M4 but not the M3.
As it is the same engine surely any work could apply to both models

Originally, F80 production ends 10/2018. It will end now for the german market(!) 05/2018. After that, M3 CS will be produced.

So, there is no big change within the schedule - we're talking about some months only, keep in mind that there is also the holiday when also no car will be produced.

Greetings
Sven

M3 production ends earlier than the M4 production because BMW AG starts the sedan production before the coupe.

The M3 production run ends in 2018 and M4 in 2020.
